During upload, I automatically (near ruthlessly) delete all inferior images. Anything out-of-focus or less than steller is axed. Then I sort by month and year. Everything is backed onto an external HD which we use for a few other purposes, too.

This being our first kid, though, we're still drowning in pictures. Am working on not taking the camera everywhere. Only using it for special outings or celebrations. It lets us enjoy her in the moment instead of documenting it.

My faves are posted on Flickr for sharing with family, so if all systems fail I'll still have those. Planning on using the built in Qoop Flickr relationship to print a book of Baby's first year.

Our south facing patio with loads of sunshine is my luxury - it helps beat with the winter blues in Portland.

LOVE it. So simple and easy, can't believe I didn't htink of this. Geez.

I actually like that pulley system for the space, esp if your ceilings are high enough to get the tires out of your headspace. I'd suggest using a simple hospital-style curtain system to literally hide it away from view. Then, if you wanted to elimate any dirt from falling off the bike onto your computer, you could simply run a ribbon through the bottom hem, gather it tight (think drawstring) and attach it to an eyelet anchored to the side wall. This would softly envelope the bike while still allowing you to use the pulley system.

We're short on space at our place and use the Michelangelo Gravity Stand (suggested by joshish above) in our living room. It's great, but not babyproof.

If you can get an older refurb'd machine, then do it. They're solid workhorses. Unfortunately, my sister laid claim to mom's machine and I had to hunt for a new one. Ended up with a simple Janome machine and LOVE it.
