You can get those bail jars at the dollar store, Ikea, or sks-bottle.com But they may not have that rustic look to them.

I had a friend who rented, and had the same problem. The landlord didn't allow painting and he didnt' want to spend the money on a backsplash.

Because he lived alone.... he actually taped up plastic wrap to the wall when he cooked. It's super cheap, easy to clean (aka just throw out), and if people came over, he could easily remove it.

I actually don't have space for an ironing board at my place, so I iron on the floor. I'd use this thing for all my clothes, and pretty much anything else I'd iron. I would probably look for stuff to use it on!
