We are a newly vegan household, and I tried to ease the transition using Daiya 'cheese' so that I could hold on to some of my old recipes. However, my kids and husband thought it tasted gross. I thought it was ok, but I never liked it. I would be open to trying other vegan cheese options when I can find them, but I am giving up on Daiya.

@ Cooknotchef and Cooknotchef every child is different and every child has limits. My children are generally great eaters but will gag and throw up if I try to feed them potatoes, beets or squash. I tried to sneak beets into a dish recently and paid the price. If you want to come over and clean up the puke then you are welcome to force whatever you want down their throats. I have things that I won't eat as well.

I made this last night with what I had on hand (subbed spinach for Kale, sun dried tomatoes for tomato paste and sweet potato ((which my children would never eat)) for couscous) and it was awesome! The sauce is very tangy and delicious. I will make it again.

I used these when I was living in Norway. I would love to have one now, but I haven't been able to find them in America. They may not be pretty but they were very comfortable.

There is one sauce it might be called Mom's with lots of giant chunks of tomato that I like. I keep a jar around for emergencies.

@keeperrox I love Wegman's, you are lucky! We almost considered staying in Syracuse just because they have Wegmans. Alas the closest one to us now is 70 miles away, so sad.

That looks delightful. Does anyone have a recipe for the non-creamy limoncello that they like? I tried the Martha Stewart recipe and it was very thick and syrupy. Is it supposed to be that way and I should cut it with club soda?

I looked at these when I was looking around for my children's lunchboxes. The reviews on Amazon said that they were difficult for kids to close so I passed it by for a less cute but easy to use bento system for them called Easylunchboxes.

For our second to last move we hired movers through U-haul to load the stuff at our old place and another set of movers to unload our stuff. They do all the heavy lifting and navigating stairs and all we had to do was drive the van.

This is a great game. My boys played with it for a long time until they lost the die. It can be played alone (like a personal challenge) or with others.

I met a crazy old lady at a farmers market, she claims to never eat pepper because it killed her brother. When they did the autopsy she claims they found some organ or another in his body bursting with pepper. I knew she was batty (she said several other things that were beyond normal), but she sounded so certain and since then I have been leary about adding pepper.

I had just transitioned to cloth when my parents came for a visit and immediately went out and bought a huge bag of paper napkins. Sigh...

I am meeting up with them for a family weekend away, I may try to sneak the paper napkins into their car.

I trust you that they are wonderful, but ferns give me the heebie jeebies. I can't stand their smell or touch, I don't know why.

My pet peeve is when a chef feels obligated to make a well known recipe unique by specifying a hard to find ingredient. Sometimes it is a revelation but often it is just cookbook filler.

I used to but got frustrated, if they didn't have something in stock that I put on my list they would just delete it and not tell me. It is not a great time saver if half the time I have to go to the store to replace what was missing from my order. Sometimes I wouldn't realize something was missing until I am in the middle of preparing a meal and am SOL.

When I lived in Norway we would pick the lingonberries, toss them in sugar, freeze. On the day we wanted to eat them, we would partially unfreeze them and top with vanilla sauce. Delicious.
