Also, I should probably mention that I'm not one of those people that minds ruffling feathers. If anyone turned up to my wedding that wasn't invited or brought a boyfriend/girlfriend that wasn't invited I would have no problem politely pointing out to them that they weren't invited & will have to leave. After all (even if they are family) they are blatantly disrespecting your wishes on your big day & deserve to be embarrassed!

I have to disagree that manners are getting worse - there are plenty of people out there with great manners. The problem is that you keep inviting these people with terrible manners!! If you are rude to me, you don't get any future invites!

I'm amazed at all the people with wedding horror stories!! I'm planning my engagement party & would be livid if the same thing happened to me! I think I'll adopt one commenters approach of sending a "sorry you can't make it - lets catch up another time" email/call if they don't respond by the RSVP date - then they know they've missed the boat & can't turn up at the last minute!

I would love my partners assistance with decorating but he has the complete inability to imagine what a piece of furniture (etc) looks like outside its current surroundings... Which makes ikea trips a bit of an ordeal!

I side with the HELL NO vote. Definately creepy & depressing. I would not want that picture of a rejected child anywhere near my children.

However, if the kids want them, then hang them. But maybe take them down for sleepovers or no kid is ever going to have a slumber party at your place ever again.

Like a lot of people who have commented - I would LOVE separate beds or even rooms occasionally but my partner would get into a heck of a mood if I attempted it! Once when I was too hot (he runs like 5 million degrees hotter than the normal person) I slept on the lounge & boy was he cranky the next day!

The fact is, sometimes I want to cuddle and sometimes I want to have a good nights sleep without being woken up by someone else's movements!

Wow this post makes me really glad I live in Australia!

It's very uncommon to have a year long lease. Most landlords offer a 3 or 6 month lease & if everyone is happy after 3/6 months then you go into a 'continueing lease' in which you need to provide 3 weeks notice if you want to leave & the landlord has to give 1 month notice if they want you to leave.

Also, you are not on the hook for any rent that the landlord cant get once you are out of the space & paid your last 3 weeks - the theory being that it's the landlords investment property so its their responsibility to get tennants or take on the financial burden.

Also, the line "Hopefully you have a close friend who practices contract law" seems like a strange thing to say - who on earth has one of those??
