Honestly, people are so rude! I like them. I think using them as bookends is a great idea.

I actually think this is pretty great - I would consider getting one - I'm one of those people with a cloth hanging over the tap.

Thanks for all the comments! By the way, it is quite bare at the minute but I do intend to inject quite a lot more colour - with prints or plates on the fireplace wall, and some kind of open shelving on the left hand side wall, displaying brightly coloured crockery.

Thanks for the comments so far! The current fabric is actually quite stained, I think it needs recovered.

I think dark grey. But then I always want to paint things dark grey. I'd say paint it before - I've just been painting furniture on a new floor and have managed to get paint on it even though I tried really hard not to!

I think feng shui is rubbish. I'd get a mirror cut to fit - it would be perfect.

sofa - but I actually agree with cscamp20 and have 2 rows of 2 - or with having 3. This looks like too many pictures for this wall.

By the way, where is your sofa from - I LOVE it!

I agree with the comments about the sheepskin - it's a great daybed - you should definitely keep it!

I've also just discovered that Jonathan Adler do beautiful small buttoned sofas. They aren't exactly the same as what you are looking for, but they are gorgeous.

Hi, the Poet Sofa is similar - I really want one. If you can manage to find an original and get it recovered, that would be very similar (although probably very expensive.) Otherwise they are being manufactured again, but they are still very expensive. I was just quoted £3,600 for one (not sure what that is in dollars, the exchange rate is going crazy!) and I'm not sure if they ship to the US. I've just written all the information I have found here:

Hi, the paint was already there when I bought this flat, and I don't think I will ever use this as a working fireplace - so can't be much help there. But does the surround need to be fireproof? I would have thought it only matters about the inner grate etc.

The grey paint is BEAUTIFUL. I love it, in fact it is a bit of a waste because I would love to paint my hallway in this colour. It is slightly more green than it looks here. It is Portland Stone by Little Greene Paint company, but I think it is only available in Europe.

I'm pretty sure the one in this photo is from Habitat.

Also, in the UK, there is a smaller version at Dwell
http://dwell.co.uk/103119?src=froogle

This is a very expensive but stylish version, with different fonts, by Established and Sons (Stella McCartney's husband)

And finally, this isn't strictly the same, but there is a shop in Chelsea which sells a round version with the date, and I think it's pretty nice. I can't remember the name of the shop, it is that department store for homewares on 7th or 8th avenue. This is the clock (the top one.)

It was in Emma's mum's attic...if you google Harvey Guzzini you might find something similar in a vintage shop. It's from the 1970s and it is very cool!

Hi,

I actually think grey would work really well. Maybe a mid grey, like a dove grey would look good.

definitely to the ceiling. I just had this dilemma myself and it looks so much better to the roof - in answer to the person whose tiles were bit crooked at the top - fix the ceiling so it's straight - that's what I did.
