if you think the Wellfleet flea is good...you need to go to the one in Sandwich. every Wed and Sat morning in the summer. get there early and be prepared to be wowed by the easy parking, choice vendors and low prices....there's also a small farmers market on Saturdays

really, one of the best exterior transformations i have ever seen. so simple and humble...you truly got this home back to it's roots, without succumbing to any pseudo vintage design-y stuff

classic grey...ben moore. it's just what it says it is...a medium to pale grey with no undertones of either red or yellow. it reads warmer at night and cooler during the day

hi everyone. thanks for all the feedback. here are some answers to your questions:

the bed is indeed the Mandal, but it is the discontinued style. this one has a headboard and footboard, but no storage drawers underneath. it is no longer on the Ikea website i see.

the lighter walls are painted benjamin moore 'woodlawn blue' and the darker paneling in the bed nook is benjamin moore 'polished slate'.

@p_capucine: the room is actually the opposite of huge, but very much adequate. it is laid out vaguely in an 'L' shape, so that the bed is in it's own little nook. the area that the bed is in is only about 7 x 6 and the overall size is about 130 sq ft.

and yes, that is a trap door in the closet that opens up to a finished space beneath the attic eaves.

beautiful photos of nice ideas...but i wish you'd had at least one photo for the really space challenged entry

such as our 4 x 5 entry (which has an exterior door swinging INTO it and deposits you right in front of our kitchen stove

thanks for all the great comments.

lafferteezy...please go and read my flickr commentary on the room. these pics were taken moments after we put it all together, and before my son had a chance to get his hands on it, and officially move in.

soon i plan to take a few more pics of the room now and feature them as diptychs with the original ones, so you can get a sense of how a six year old really decorates.

everyone deserves a stylish room, no matter their age.

we have two projects in the works. one, a bathroom redo. and two, building a built-in cabinet for our tv and av equipment. we'll do #2 while waiting for all of the fixtures to arrive for #1.

this is my biggest design nightmare.

if you don't have the room for a large flatscreen, don't get one.

i agree...an easy hack for either of the lesser priced options. and i love Tar and Violets idea about the belt. you could stitch a couple of them together.

using a vintage doorknob as the hanger would be great too.

our bedroom is the last room we are getting to after we moved into our new home four years ago. it hasn't much in it but the bed, a chair, a small tv, and a dresser. besides some art on the walls, i find there's not much more we need.

although some of the ideas are nice, why are there so many of each thing? it kinda reminds me of a department store.

i don't think 'charming' is quite the right word for this. maybe, 'redundant'?
