Boil 3 inches of water with 1 tsp of baking soda. Let it come to a rapid boil then drop in your eggs gently. Leave the pot uncovered, but still boiling on the heat, and set a timer for 10 minutes. Once the timer goes off, remove the eggs and run cold water over them until they are cool enough to peel. Works every time! You can do 7-8 minutes for the perfect soft boiled egg as well.

FYI, the baking soda will make removing the shells easier, but is not necessary.

We solved this problem by selling/donating EVERYTHING we owned (minus some nice clothes, and all our kitchen gear) and started fresh when we arrived in our new place across the country. It felt amazing!

The process was tough but it made us realize how pointless the attachments were that we had to objects and we resolved to live as simply as possible from there on out.

GORGEOUS! Where was Kelly + Olive when I searched for months to find their exact services when we relocated to Chicago?! Contacting them asap, our space needs them! Love finding this sort of this sort of link through Apartment Therapy!

Finally! Someone who encourages filling the space in order to start enjoying it immediately rather than all the other advice out there to just keep waiting until the seas part ways and exactly the right things come your way. We move into our place nearly a year ago after getting rid of everything we owned for a cross country move and my husband was going crazy because I spent months searching for just the right sofa, chairs, rug, dining table, etc. It felt like we were camping and not enjoying our new luxury apartment. I love when people give advice like this. You may not find the perfect things, but just start filling the space and craigslist the things you no longer want as you find the right pieces so that you can actually live in your home rather than feel like a temporary resident.

Lovely tour!

I love your kitchen and think you've done a great job with that zigzag painted backsplash and the open shelving! I agree with every other comment about changing the light fixture but honestly, its a lovely space!

I am in total agreement. My fridge feels lonely when it is missing the arugula that is ever present in it.

To combat wilting, I find that if I open the bag immediately (store bought or farmers market fresh) and put in 1-2 paper towels and seal the bag (but not too tightly) the towels help absorb all the moisture that gather on the leaves and the arugula stays fresh and wilt free much longer this way. I do this with nearly every veg I buy.

And please nobody yell at me for using paper towels, they are my one vice and I swear I love the Earth!

The couch debate is an endless one in our household. We recently sold all of our belongings in SF when we relocated to Chicago and we were so excited to buy all new stuff but most excited about Sofa shopping. Until, that is, we realized how impossible the search is. After spending roughly 2K on the Crate and Barrel Klyne Sectional, we thought we'd found the one. Then it was delivered and arrived damaged with rock hard cushions so it got returned. Back to the drawing board and with a possible overseas move in the near future we decided to buy something neutral, easy to resell, cheap but higher quality than Ikea, and still sleek and modern. We wandered in Chiasso and bought this:

It's modern, firm but comfy, and VERY easy to clean (they call it soft faux flannel but feels felt-like). Maybe its perfect for you too? We LOVE it.

Beautiful home, but I completely agree with LSAB on wanting to see more apartments on here that cant be customized like an owned home can. Otherwise, you guys might want to think about changing the name of this site :)
