The dresser to me looks like an antique Hoosier cabinet, probably used in a general store. I wouldn't be surprised if the cupboards were lined with metal.

kas423 - I agree! Our play kitchen has little spots for storage, but they're tiny. I spent a couple hours wandering around IKEA looking for something that would fit there and found some tiny (supposed to be hanging) recycling bins that fit the bill. They're not great, though, and I'm definitely looking for ideas, too.

I got tremendously lucky: I found the "complete kitchen center" listed above at Goodwill. It hadn't been priced yet and - miracle of miracles - they priced it for me on the spot for $29.99! I went back the next day and scored the food and pots and pans that had been donated with it. While it's pretty small, it's nice that it has two sides and lots of storage. I like that it doesn't take up an entire wall, but it was a bit tricky to find a good spot for it in her bedroom. I think soon it'll move to our tiny breakfast nook (it's too small to be useful - bad reno by the previous owners).

I've also seen the Hape/Educo one at the same Goodwill (it needed a bit of a touch up), a KidKraft one at a different GW and also a Plan Toys refrigerator (that I just didn't have space for).

I love my vintage jewelry box! I love it even more because I snagged it at Goodwill for $5!

We have a 1923 cottage that had a quite-large dining room. We turned that room into our living room/tv room and turned our living room into what I call our "salon." It has a round table with four chairs that works well for games and dining. The room also has an armoire to serve as a coat closet and will soon both a small landing strip and a comfortable leather armchair with a small table.

It's proven to be the best use of space and actually makes our very traditional house seem much more modern. The only drawback is that we must walk through the now-living room to get to the salon from the kitchen, but it's worth it on a daily basis!

One trick I've used for funky vintage clothing is a mixture of equal parts vodka and water in a spray bottle. The alcohol really helps erase the scent, rather than just mask it.

Our cats are pretty good about using the litter box until it's absolutely disgusting (it's my husband's job to clean the litter box, as they're his cats and I'm pregnant). This litter box works pretty well, and also keeps our dog from trying kitty rocha. I assembled this myself and found it easy. I got it from Amazon, where it cost more but had free shipping using Prime.

I think I read recently that houses that get a lot of direct sunlight need to be painted a more saturated color so they don't look washed out. I have a small cottage in the most bland shade of taupe with white accents and a red door and it completely disappears in the middle of the day, when it's getting direct sun. I vote for a rusty red or orange to emphasize the cool roof.
