Munchkin now also makes something similar (a set of 4 brushes of various widths and lengths), but the brushes are separate and can stand up on their own. I got a set at my local Target.

I posed the original question.

@kayshin, I actually stumbled across maggi in my cupboard the other day. And tastewise, it's a good stand-in, but it's super-salty (I guess I'm used to the low-sodium soy sauce) and loaded with MSG. But, it'll do in a pinch.

Yeah, I looked at Bragg's and the GF soys first too. I'm super curious about coconut aminos, never heard of those. Are they high in saturated fat?

@AButler, in another recipe of mine, 2 mashed bananas is estimated to be about 1 cup freshly mashed (not frozen). Although, I would think the freezing has a negligible effect.

We had the frog in my son's room and a very fancy high-end non-Crane humidifier in our bedroom and the frog wins hands down. The filterless-ness is key; plus, it's nearly silent. They've now come out with a more modern-designed teardrop version and we've purchased one for the adult bedroom.

The only downside is the mineral deposits on the black disk within the humidifer, but I think that was from laziness on our part, in not cleaning it often enough.

Any ideas for recipes with already cooked shrimp? I have a lot leftover from a shrimp cocktail party plate and would like to do something other than eating it with cocktail sauce.

Thanks for all the good ideas. I'm really enjoy learning about how everyone deals with this "problem". Keep the ideas coming.

(I would love to use this moment to teach my son about not letting our possessions control us ... and perhaps along the way learn that myself.)

We used Willow Branch by AFC - I would describe it as a springy green. We have yet to create the rest of my toddler son's room around this accent wall, but after living with it for a few months, I still love the color.

I often avoid making chicken stock because for some reason I've got it in my head that it's more nutritious/better tasting to make stock from new bone-in chicken rather than leftover bones. But when I go to the trouble of buying the chicken, I then decide that it's a waste to use the chicken for stock rather than an actual dish. So then, stock never gets made.

Does anyone else suffer from this dilemma? Maybe it's a cultural thing (asian) or just a familial thing (this is how my mom makes stock).

We have a curious toddler at home, so we bought a plastic box with latching sides. We got ours at Target and it's a little more secure than this one, but you get the idea:

In that box, we put all sharp blades from our blender, immersion blender, hand mixer, our crazy pineapple cutter, etc. It's not beautiful, but it gets the job down for a few bucks.

Funny, we also made the same mushroom casserole the other day. But we used plain yogurt instead of sour cream. Something to keep in mind the next time, as I imagine leftover yogurt is more versatile than sour cream. (FWIW, the casserole tasted great, so I odn't think the substitution affected the flavor much.)

I agree that orchids are not as difficult to care for as one might think. However, I've found that the source of the plant does matter. The ones I purchase from a nursery always seem to do better than the cheaper ones from Trader Joe's. Don't get me wrong; I love TJs, but for some reason, I can never get thos plants to bloom again.

Anyone else have a similar experience or a solution?

We have the Learning Tower, which we bought used locally, and we love it. It does take up space, but we park in in the corner of our hallway, and our house is not very big at all. We love the peace of mind we have when using it; I especially like the fact that there is a wood slat in front that sort of keeps the toddler "caged" while I'm cooking. And the little steps on the side all him to get in and out by himself safely. While I agree that the kik-step is an ingenious device, I don't really mind the design of the tower.

The folding version mentioned above is called the Kitchen Helper, I think.
