Yeah, yeah - handy recycling. ;-) What I want to know about is "roomba garage"!! I'll look in to that perfect skinny shredder later...

I love the wallpaper, but something about the way the pictures are hung gives me a creepy haunted house feeling!

maymay -I love mixing uncommon friends at a dinner table. It helps if some have interests in common (similar career, small kids, love of art, etc) though it certainly isn't required. As far as making everyone comfortable, you're all adults right? I would hope as long as you don't have an animal rights activist at a table with your favorite butcher things would be just fine. What makes most people comfortable is knowing that you welcome them being there and are excited to have them in your home. Lots of wine never hurt either!

My friends and my husband's enjoy meeting each other and we've had great dinner conversations due to the fact that we have to talk about something other than the same people we all know.

Wow. I thought my house was bad having a mirror on most every wall. That's nothing compared to having every wall mirrored! Geez. Lovely reno.

It probably depends on the light, but I used Santorini Blue in my north facing bedroom. It's a little more blue during the day and more gray at night. It's a midrange color. If it was diluted, Timber Wolf is gray-gray. It's pretty dark, but certainly isn't purple. Good luck!

Egad!! The price! The price!

Are there any old ones from defunct airlines out there?

I've got one coat of this on the walls in my hallway. I'm really happy with it! They can make any color you want - I love picking the Benjamin Moore colors, just because they are so fabulous. It's great stuff.

When we remodeled our house we put in dual flush toilets. Not surprisingly, they were manufactured in Japan. Most people who visit are slightly perplexed (there aren't any labels on the buttons), then full of questions about how well they work! We love them and feel great about our little contribution to water conservation. This kind of adaptor would be well worth the investment!

I'm usually a "not before December!" sort of holiday decorator, but haven't put anything up in a couple of years. The hubby & I decided we want to be festive this year and will probably do most of the decorating Thanksgiving weekend since he has 4 days in a row off. Everything comes down December 31st, though. We host a New Year's Day brunch and don't want that to be about the previous holiday.

I think the fluorescent vs incandescent bulb seems the most logical explanation. My first thought when I saw it, though, was that the top unit had an aquarium in there somewhere and not many other lights on.

As for ogling the neighbors - I do love the "Rear Window" aspect of this as well. Once upon a time I lived in the city (SF) and always left my curtains open under the guise that if people were allowed to look in my apartment they shouldn't mind me looking into theirs!

I have a six No. 42 chairs designed by Kai Kristiansen sitting around a beautiful Danish modern dining table. All in rosewood. The chairs were my downfall to collecting mid-century modern & danish furniture. (My husband is fairly certain I have a serious health problem. It's really just a simple chair fetish!)

Serious lust for most things Danish modern, though. Makes me feel calm and unburdened.

Paint that crazy orange window sill! Otherwise, I agree - maybe a towel-like white shower curtain, big white bath rug, wooden tray with a couple of jars maybe. I would keep things to a minimum since there is already a lot going on in there.

Side note: put your toilet lid down, bad feng shui and weird in pictures.

I've used a mulching mower (electric!) on my leaves since I purchased my 1st home about 6 years ago. Does great things for the St. Augustine grass in Austin. I like the idea of using them for composting, too!

We have a house full of animals and definitely think about claw-proof upholstery when buying (& barf proof rugs, for that matter.) I got in to a little trouble recently when I purchased a gently used chair. It is my dream chair and is covered in a large weave wool - I wake up in the middle of the night when I hear the cats scratching on ANYTHING.

There have definitely been a lot more "puddy pedi's" around here lately!

I live in a 1968 house with the standard hallway built-in linen cabinet/laundry hamper. I took the door off the hamper and slid the box to the back. I'm not sure anyone even notices it's there. If we only had a couple of cats, I'd probably opt for cutting in a small door, though, making it even more discreet.
