I have a small house and a couple pets. You have hit on a couple key points, vacuum/sweep on a regular basis, have the pet have it's own area, clean the pets bedding on a regular basis, and brush/wash your pet on a regular schedule. I also keep a towel by the front door to wipe the dogs feet when they come in after a walk in the rain or dirty area.

I work in real estate and have seem many lovely homes. I've only had regrets over two that I did not bid on. One home was owned by a cleint who would have sold to me at below cost, he did not need to sell, just wanted to sell. The other was home that fit my quirky style. It's been sold and re-sold a few times since my office had it listed. Still can see myself living there, but changed offices and it's just a bit too far for commuting to my new office.

I also lived in DC and dreaded "Tourist/Protest Season". I did however, love riding my bike around the Capitol grounds (when you could do it) and the Cherry blossoms. Do miss parts of DC.....

I actually just made this over the weekend. Had not had it in ages, not a big baker, but thought it would be fun to have at dinner.

any leftover is a great breakfast. If you can have omelets for dinner, why not leftover pad thai for breakfast?!

After years of stressful holidys with family and my then boyfriends family, I made the decision to "do" thanksgiving and christmas on my own or to spend it with select friends. I bring a side dish, dessert or wine, have a great meal, have a great time and then go home, usally with a small plate of leftovers too. It's has amazed me how much less stress I have had in my life and how much better I enjoy the holidays. I used to get the comments "Aren't you lonely?" to which I replies Nope, I'm loving the me time!
I second rose123. 4th of July rocks as a holiday and I do invite all to my small place on a lake.

The original poster states you can remove the jars and wash them in a dishwasher.....probably the clamp is not on that tight that you can't remove it.

You may be able to find some leather or faux leather to use on top. This is just one site, I'm sure there are others

I'd say it's to hold a large roast something to carve it. Shredding meat is another option!
