I stir in it oatmeal, dollop it on greek yogurt, toss it in fruit salads, or thin it way down with oil and balsalmic for a fruity salad dressing. I've also used it as ice cream topping.

Maybe chop it into bits and put on top of your salad or cottage cheese for lunch? Like Bacon Bits, only not from a jar and hopefully not loaded with nearly the amount of nasty stuff those suckers had in them!

I disagree about 'the other' on a foam bed. We've had a foam bed for about 6 months and I prefer the foam to a traditional mattress with box spring. Having no tell tale 'Ka-ching, ka-ching' sound is nice and I no longer worry about waking up my kids or bothering neighbors. It was a pleasant surprise I hadn't expected when we purchased the foam bed.

I would love to learn how to make and roll fondant, how to get spice residue out of my marble mortar and pestle, how to sharpen the blades of my food processor and vita mix, lots of non-alcoholic punch recipes, the best way to make kids' popscicles from juice without the juice being cloudy and gross looking, a great recipe for saltwater taffy and how to photograph food better.
Sorry for the run on sentence--the idea of learning some of these things in the kitchen excites me! :-)

Make carrot halva--great Indian dessert. You could freeze the milk into ice cube trays and thaw for cooking or crush into smoothies/blender breakfasts. Of course puddings. I've also made good lighter in fat alfredo sauces with milk, but 1% might be a little too light...eh add more butter! :-)

I think when debating on whether or not to splurge, the feeling is, and you put it out there already: Obsessed.
When I become obsessed with an item and can't stop thinking about it for days, that's when I know. I've never been disappointed about acquiring an obsession. Congrats to you on your gorgeous piece! I'd love to see pics of the inside.

One thing we do for our radiators that are right under windows is put aluminum foil shiny side toward the radiator, on the wall behind the radiator and under the window. This has allowed the heat to bounce back into the room instead of escaping out. We do other things that others have mentioned as well, but this was a simple thing that has saved money and seems to work as well.

Pad Thai is a top ten favorite at our house. Sadly, Mr. Bittman's pad thai recipe was our very first encounter with him. I'd read him in the NY Times for ages, but made this as a first go. We now call him Mr. Bitchman due to our disappointment.

It seems like since you're wavering, you shouldn't do it. First time home (any home!) purchasing is a huge deal. From experience, this isn't something to rush into and the creep factor is a little too huge here!
