I look at the list of ingredients. There's usually a tiny sticker placed on foreign packages with ingredients in English. You may not exactly know what you're getting, but you can look out for ingredients you don't like. (Fish in my case.)

Wedding etiquette is that you register for gifts, but don't tell people unless they ask. Of course no one follows that anymore.

However, I think that would apply very nicely here. It's not tacky because you haven't announced "Hey buy me gifts!" but it's there if someone inquires.

Very similar to sugar skulls. We made some 3 years back and they're still good. I guess they don't hold together well if you make them on damp or rainy days.

That grey and red one is pretty cute for a prison cell. Maybe that's the bordello?!

I always wondered if you use these, do they charge you for the extra weight of your bag?

I broke our cheese drawer runner while cleaning the fridge (on the last cure) and it was the best thing I ever did. Now I use the drawer as a bin, and I just take the whole thing out when I'm looking for something.

We too store coldcuts in there.

We installed under the cabinet stemware holders and we only use about half of what we installed. It takes up counter space in that the glasses hang down and prevent you from putting anything beneath it (like a blender, for instance.) Also another one is high up and seemed fine at the time, but my husband would hit the wine glasses every time he did the dishes.

So I would hold your stemware under your cabinets first, to get an idea of what it would look like.

Also, the glasses get dusty and greasy quickly out in the open, and you have to clean them regularly.

For my son's pirate birthday party, I stamped lunch bags with a potato stamp of a jolly roger for goody bags and used the same stamp (but switching to a fabric paint) on organic cotton jersey cut into triangles for head scarves. Then everyone could be piratey.

Another thing the naysayers are missing is that a bake sale is a great way to introduce your child to philanthropy.

I subscribe to Selvedge online mainly because it is a)really expensive in print and b)it was becoming increasingly harder to find in the states. I do miss curling up in a chair with a nice magazine, but I'm beginning to see the light about not acquiring physical "things."
