I'd love the Questioner to come back and explain why she is worried about asking the landlord. Adults have relationships and eventually move in together, if he is a reasonably guy with positive references I don't see where the issue would lie. Even if you don't want him on the lease it would be the right thing to give his details/references to the landlord and have their approval before he moves in.

@GEORGIAZEE I'd say it is pretty hard to use 2GB of data without tethering or streaming video a lot. Maybe look at your current usage and if it is well below 2GB switching would be an ok idea. I guess it depends what you think might happen in the future.

My plan here in Australia is complicated but great. I bought the phone unlocked from apple and then pay $30 a month. That includes $220 in call/text value (which is impossible to convert into minutes because of the way they do things here but I always finish the month with $100+ left on the account). I get 400MB of data include but also get allocated 30 credits a month to buy extra data with, I usually but an extra 700MB for 20 credits and the extra 10 credits accumulates on my account. This way when I go traveling I can buy extra data (the larger the data block the less credits/GB) and use my phone as a 3G modem. I'm not in a contract either so if I run out of data credits I can just up my monthly spend and get more.

They did an installation at GOMA in Brisbane that was raise up for easier viewing and it was truly amazing with so much care and detail. It was very popular with the kids.

Are those wall kitchens functional? They seem to be in all the new apartments now and where I live most apartments are new. I just can't see myself really being able to cook in them. I don't really understand the point of having a full sized oven and four burners and then a tiny smidgen of bench space that barely holds completed prep let alone allows for prep to be done on it too.

The place looks lovely but small apartment kitchens are a pet hate of mine.

I seem to always be within walking distance of bubble tea here in australia and new stores seems to pop up all the time. The most popular places don't have english menus though which isn't good for me so I stick to easyway.

I have learned so much from my rentals which means when we come to buy our own place we are going to be very picky about what we like.

We've been living together for 5 years in two different places and still don't have all our furniture worked out. When we moved in together we were given a lot of old furniture from people who were looking for an excuse to upgrade. Since then we've been slowly buying bits that we like to replace the freebees that we are not so keen on. That said, after 5 years our TV still sits on the floor. I'm not into buying furniture for the sake of it, I'd rather just do it once and have something to keep for good. I don't mind if it takes years to collect a house full of furniture, I slept on a mattress on the floor for a few years before finding the right bed ;)

My parents have the most wonderful neighbours and I know them all by name. If they've been baking they invite each other over for a cup of tea to share the food, if someone is unwell in the street their neighbours will check on them and bring them homecooked meals, help out with the garden or looking after the kids. The elderly who have no local family have people looking out for them and if anyone is every in need of help here is a line of people offering. They live in a city of over 2 million and only 10 minutes drive to the centre so it isn't like it is a country town.

It makes me sad that where I live now there is only a wall separating me from my neighbours but I have no idea who they are. It is hard to make eye contact with them in the lift let alone get a smile or a hello. It makes me feel really disconnected from the community.

"Another advantage to goat's milk is that people with milk allergies and milk sensativities can frequently tolerate cow's milk due to the milk's slightly different protein structure. Goat's milk does contain lactose, however I've heard that some people with lactose intolerance are able to consume cow's milk without side effects."

I don't know if I'm just overtired but I can't get that paragraph to make sense in the context of the article.

As for goat's milk I'm keen to try making yogurt with it but it is always sold out at my supermarket.

I wish I could enter this but my rental kitchen is a nightmare and the reason that I probably won't renew the lease. No cosmetic fix-ups can redeem the fact that the longest stretch of workable bench space is only 45 cm and completely closed in. Ick

I'm glad to live in a place where tipping isn't compulsory. Tipping 15% on every drink order sounds crazy.

That said a $12 cocktail here is mostly unheard of. I expect to pay $15-$20 :(

They have a terrible selection of mushrooms.

There are never any children in my supermarket now that I think about it. We also have self-service checkouts and single queuing for multiple lanes so the slow people are not such a bother.

There independent supermarket closer that I'd love to shop at by every time I buy something there they stop carrying it. I found a milk brand that I love and they stopped carrying it, same with feta, labna, quark, yogurt, cream, on and on (I only really buy mushrooms and dairy at the supermarket). They also have a terrible mushroom selection.

my parents who love wall paper have wall paper in their kitchen. so long as there is good ventilation and a proper splash back it isn't really an issue. having a good quality paper that you can easily clean no doubt helps too.

We are also very lucky to live in walking distance of two tea houses. I usually prefer to drink more expensive teas in shops as they don't charge that much extra for a pot and I don't need to worry about storage/freshness.

french earl grey, earl gray, ceylon, darjeeling, formosa oolong, a flavoured black and green tea blend and chai.

we drink at least 3 pots of tea a day. others types come and go from the cupboard but those remain pretty constant. all loose leaf of course. i'd keep more green teas but i have trouble finding them consistently fresh.

I'm seriously contemplating leaving a passive aggressive note in our building's entry area. Apartments where I live tend to have short tenancies so chances are you get 4-5 letters every week addressed to other people, it is easy enough to write RTS on them and then drop them off at the many post boxes within 3 minutes walk. Some of my neighbours keep leaving piles of this mail in the hallway instead. I've taken to picking it all back up and putting it in their letter boxes everyday but they don't seem to be getting the message.

I got pretty annoyed the other day when we finally had a hot sunny summer day and I went to make iced tea only to find that the housemate had already taken my 2L tea jug to make some for himself, which he then drank over several days. No sipping iced tea by the pool for me. Amongst his other sins, he also uses the tea towels that I use to wipe up clean dishes to clean up messes on the floor, then hangs them back up and never washes them.

I think I'm just kind of 'over' having a housemate so any slip up he makes drives me crazy. He has been bring up his cash situation in conversation recently and although I don't want to see him struggle, there is part of me that secretly wishes he'd go back to live with his parents. I can afford the apartment without him and everything besides what is in his room belongs to me anyway, but keeping him around does save me a lot of money. I'm not sure how you have a conversation with someone telling them that you just don't want to live with them anymore.

I brew my iced tea without sugar and then serve with a simple syrup on the side so people can sweeten it to their liking.

Our supermaket also used to sell this great italian sparkling flavoured water with almost no sugar or sweetener added. There was a mandarin flavour which was great and only 80c/bottle (in Australia at that!). I haven't seen it for a long time though.

A big glass jug of iced tea with matching slices of fruit in it is a lovely sight.

I have very long hair too. Sometimes I wonder how still have any hair on my head given how much ends up on the floor, in my hair brush, in the shower drain, etc.

I guess I am lucky in that it is a pretty close match to the colour of the carpet, but it also seems to cling to he carpet. After vacuuming I go around with my hand and roll it into balls then throw it out. I wish there was an easier way.
