I love the artwork in the second photo. Where is it from?

If you don't like the lattice, how about creating a brick wall in its place? It's a lot more labour intensive, but if you pick brick that is the same as (or similar to) the ones that are used in your house it might create a more cohesive feel between the house, the extension and the yard area.

Meh, not my type of thing. Plus, what my dog would do is sleep on it for ten to thirty minutes and then wake up and decide it's too hot (or some other reason) and go sleep on the floor itself.

Also, sidenote, agreed with mschatelaine, duvet needs a cover.

The last pic is awesome. If I had enough friends that liked playing games my collection would look like that. Also, the cat in that pic is very cute :D

Hmmm.... To me it seems as if the table itself doesn't quite go with the place. Of course I can only see a little bit of it, but the ewok chairs match what I can see of the sofa and that sidetable/cabinet thing, the table doesn't.

That said, I like the Ikea chairs with the table, they're both more modern and clean lined.

Huh... But, if you cover it and thenflip it over, wouldn't the air stay trapped inside and just move to the bottom (now top) of the can?

Also, major pet peeve: Voila, not viola. Viola is a type of violin.

Hmm.... It being a rental I assume you can't paint over the wood. Depending on budget and how long you plan to stay there you could create a secondary wall just before the wood paneling and paint that. Although I'm not sure if that will work with the window seats and such. Hmmm

Other than that, I tend to agree that a mirror over the fireplace would just reflect more wood. I'd go with a nice big art piece, in a lighter/brighter colour scheme plus some nice furniture in a bright and light colour.

As for lighting for the reading nooks, hanging ceiling lights are awesome or maybe a wall light that shines downwards.

I'm kinda wondering how poster salts their meat that the shaker needs to be cleaned, does it get rubbed over the meat? My salt container never comes near enough the meat to warrant any cleaning... I shake some over it and rub it in using my hands, after I put the shaker away again.

The clouds are awesome :D I'd put a bunch of pillows there to lie on and stare at it :) Or a hammock :D Would make and awesome relax nook, retreat with a book and a drink and pretend your outside, even when it's raining. Can even put fake grass(like) stuff on the floor :D

Furniture placement is better indeed, but I miss the splash of colour that the before had. This is just dark and dreary.

Hmm.... I don't think these 4 are scary at all, for any age-group. Intriguing, yes, very much so, there's a couple here that, if I had the space and money for it, I would definitely want. Some kids might be apprehensive at first but I think most will run for it and play with it.

Don't know if this is possible, but could you get a piece of glass that is cut to such a size that it will fit between the handles? I'm thinking that if you get a piece that will fit exactly on the spot where the round bit becomes the curve it will be secured enough. You could slide it in from the front and it wouldn't be able to go up or down.

@KTG, agreed :) For me, if I had that amount of money and was looking for a place in NY, I'd buy this in a heartbeat. And then mostly because of the shelves (although I love the other features too).
