The white floors do a great job of making teh space feel bigger and showcasing the furniture pieces. I love the vintage chandelier in the bedroom with the simple striped sheets and modern floating night stands. She did so much with very little space. Well done!

all the rugs are super affordable - the blue and white is from Overstock. People keep asking me about it. It is very popular and inexpensive.

The orange and purple was from Ebay - lucky bid, search kilim. And the small bedroom rug in an antique Baluch Persian rug that was a gift from my parents, hence free :)

Yes, the horizontal wood slats were a simple design upgrade to the existing metal rail which had openings that were bigger than 4" through which a small child could fall through (frightening). First we painted the metal rail with Rustoleum gloss smoke grey. Then attached the wood after staining it with Minwax dark walnut. We have been using that stain on any wood finish throughout the home for consistency.

I looked thoroughly at the midcentury tanker style desk and I couldn't find a label. Sorry. The reason I like it is because most tanker desks are made of metal and extremely heavy, but the wood version give same the same style and is much lighter.

The grey in the bedroom is Dark Granite and I love it.

I looked again at the pictures and I don't think they are too high. Maybe the picture cropping cut off the rest of room height so they look funny. To me in the real space, they are just right.

On the other hand, the orange and purple rug is cool but it does not belong in the living room.

Thanks everyone for the mostly very positive and supportive comments. And the constructive criticism that helps me to evaluate what is and isn't working in the different spaces. I'm always itching for change so having objective direction given is a good thing.
