Like others posting here, we had these windows in our upper level duplex in Echo Park, LA. One con not mentioned is that we could never open ours because we have indoor only cats. They would have immediately escaped and be gone forever. We ended up building a portable screen that we'd hook in and out when we wanted a window open--that way we could have a breeze and the kitties would stay imprisoned inside.

some people on this thread clearly do not have cats. in those situations, i am unsure how valuable your suggestions are.

That first one makes me cringe. I know there's nothing intrinsically wrong with rolling up magazines like this; I just like them flat not bent at all!

To me, these are sofas that men will like. If women like them too, great.

I like the fifth point though I'm twisting it around: reminding myself of the cost of moving (no matter how cheaply you do it) is one sure way of making do with your current place. The adorable kitty picture also reminds me how stressful moving is, for me and my kitties. If I get the moving itch any time soon, it's probably because I've managed to accumulate too much crap so I know it's time to purge!

I love the picture too--this is how I hope to be in 10 years time. I grew up with a 10 foot square concrete yard surrounded by high walls (typical in Belfast) and don't crave a leafy grassy yard necessarily. But I would love a dog and to be able to grow some veggies, so something small would do.

This is one of the few times I've seen a chalk board I really like. I cringe with how close it is to the computer though...

This looks ugly--clunky and junky.

Very cute. Since my two cats between them weigh, well, let's just say a little more than 20lbs, so they wouldn't be able to replicate the adorable second image. And check out Moderncat.net for cat-themed modern stylings (I am not affiliated). Maybe there's a dog version out there too?
