I have suspected that we had the Allure in our kitchen and today I confirmed it by getting a sample from Home Depot. We have the Ashlar and have been happily living on it for almost 2 years since we moved into our 100 year old house. I have been searching for a flooring for our 2nd living room and office to replace the horrible carpet (last room of it!). I am really leaning towards the cork look Allure flooring. I can vouch for the durability and look of the Ashlar. In addition to 3 people walking on it everyday, we have a 60lb lab, her messy water dish, her food, moving furniture on the kitchen floor (alot) and you know, its a kitchen floor. If you look very closely you can see the seams, but they are not lifting at all. Everything wipes off, and I rarely mop because it doesnt show anything. Never a smell, but I suspect it was down for about a year before we moved in (I know the former owners had a toddler and a big dog). I treated the floor kind of crappy when we first moved in because I thought- ew vinyl, we will replace this soon. But now I will probably put it in our living room. Ha!

Big fan of San Antonio! I'm there a couple times a year for quick weekend trip. Its a quick trip from Fort Worth, by Texas standards anyway. I'd love to see some posts on Fort Worth, there are some great areas in my town!

jeez they still have everything at fort worth, both locations. i was excited to see it, but when i got there i couldnt pick a single thing. also, it was out way earlier than it was supposed to be. it was split up into at least 3 end caps that were not near each other. and when i asked a sales person she had NO idea what i was talking about, even after describing it 5 ways. i turned a corner and there is was! (she worked in that dept)

i second the more patterns and less fruit... i wanted to buy something that i could enjoy more, but i feel like the designs on the cups wont last, i dont want plastic plates, dont need aprons or mits or napkins or towels, and the storage containers were a little more than i wanted to pay since i had no idea what to use it for. i love her stuff, but this was a little too cute for me this time. im sure it will be much more enticing when it goes on clearance though! everything looks better when its cheaper!

all my fav mags die- domino, budget living, organic living, shop etc, blueprint, jane, cottage living..i know there are more... ugh.. what the hell am i supposed to look forward to reading now. apt therapy, if you ever leave me....

I just got married last year and i received a few gifts off my registry. One has never been out of the box, several were returned (thankfully!!) and ONE from a very close friend, has been used ONCE at a shower. I chose the items on my registry carefully because I did not want to end up with a bunch of ~stuff~ especially not stuff I didnt even register for. So for those of you that like to stray from registries... why why why... get creative some other time. If there is a registry just stick to it. Couples spend a lot of time making the thing and keeping it full and up to date. If theres not one, then well, they are asking for it so THAT is your chance to buy things you are sure they need/want/will cherish!

me too urbancat. one by one the little rocks turn kinda yucky and the base turns to goo. i pull them off when it happens to keep the rot from spreading. not that it works, but it may help.

Our very good friends live in Houston, in the Cyfair school district, they lost power and cell phone access. They are told that there will be no work or school until at least Wednesday. No word on when power will be up. They came up to Waco today to meet their parents to get a generator today and went back. No internet, like some of you have mentioned. They only have communication through texting and their home phone, no voice service on cells. They had minimal damage to their house- fence down, stuff in the yard, etc.

I have heard too many ghost stories to be ok with living in a place I already feel weird about. I would jump at every sound and see shapes in the dark. It doesnt take much for me, but I would agree with those that say- if you are asking now- dont do it.

I agree. Your place is beautiful and original. I doubt painting all of that would be easily undone. I would leave it like it is.

I have a new house, big big walls, all painted white, not by choice. The reason I leave them white is because its a very open floor plan and I dont know where walls begin/end. Also, I have read to leave things white if you want to sell soon, and I do.
