I love this idea. My husbands Ipod (4th gen) just died. He doesn't feel it necessary to buy a NEW ipod to replace it.

100% why my husband and I bought a reel mower when we bought our house.

Being an old jo-ann employee..5" green high density foam is about $30 a linear foot. Then I'm sure you can find fabric from a local home decor fabric store. But there are a few things you have to consider with the fabric. If you husband is using this thing daily you might want to get a crypton fabric or similar to prevent wearing showing through. Commercial grade fabric is meant to be sat on daily for long periods. Places like crate and barrel don't expect your husband to be working 8 hours a day on the couch. This is also most likely why the foam is going bad.

you can also have a reupholster do the work and make sure you pick a fabric that can withstand daily use, and high quality foam. And when you go shopping for the fabric make sure that the upholster is comfortable with what you have picked for being able to be used on your couch. I have come across people who pick the fabric without consulting and pick something that puckers, etc.

I know that the eco stance is to reuse/fix, but you might be better off donating this couch to good will and starting over (especially if you are moving). I would suggest looking at a higher grade of couch in the future. Surprisingly Macys has some really good couches. And you can also look at finer local home furniture dealers that are independent and sell name brands. You are going to shell out some dough to get a quality couch that is going to last you 30 years, but it is a one time expense that won't have to be repeated every 2 years.

I know I might get chastised for this, but your best bet for upholstery that is going to stand up to wear and tear is going to be leather. Good quality leather. Most couches at Macy's have a guarantee that your cat can't scratch their leather. There is a difference between top grain leather and that crap you get on $50 leather office chairs from staples.

omg I hate snakes and that freaks me out.

I would say I have some components from some of those fridges. But I hate it when no one else in the house cleans out old leftovers.

My mom just lent me this book to read for my future garden. This is always what I knew a garden to look like, since this is how my moms was growing up. Obviously the book has a new cover, but its still very informative.

I use a bagless with a hepa filter. I haven't really had too much dist fly up when emptying. I usually place it deep inside the garbage can before hitting the button to eject the nastiness. I'm not sure about other brands, but dyson designed it pretty good for easy and clean emptying. Plus I LOVE not having to use a bag, which I found also spewed dust everywhere when emptying. Plus I wasn't able to tell how full the bag was so I typically over filled it on accident causing a HUGE mess.

I use bar soap in the shower, the husband is wasteful and uses the liquid old-spice. He also goes through a bottle a month (you seriously only need a tiny bit, not a table spoon).

I put my laptop on a worksurface that I am not using for cooking so I can see it but not get anything spilled on it. I will save recipes as pdf's and organize them in folder by type. I don't have the motivation to put them into one note or anything that advanced.

Love that chair. I would suggest that if anyone wants to purchase commercial grade furniture like this to contact your local furniture dealership. You can expect about 40% off of the list price. What you pick with your chair changes the list price (articulating arms vs. standard arms). But that chair, and the Allsteel Sum chair are to me very comfortable

It took my husband and I 4 years to go through out first roll when we got our apartment together. So sparingly is my answer. It wasn't so much a conservation issue, but frustration with it and we always put our leftovers in our matching Chinese take out containers.

Dishwasher all the way. I can't fathom how my handwashing would be more economical then my dishwasher. I put almost everything in except my pots and pans. Plus my husband is terrible at hand washing, so I would rather it go in the dishwasher.

I do have some that were a gift, but I hate them and try not to use them. Besides I can still get food to stick to them. I am trying to replace them with just regular pans.

I do love the add from HSN on here right now. "nonstick, heat-resistant greenpan"
