The shower curtain is from a local hardware store (Pintchik) and was actually one of the cheapest available.

Nice apartment overall although not exactly my style.
I really like the wallpaper and that you were not afraid to put some colors on the wall. However, I think the furniture in the bedroom should be then more modern and "clean" as it may easily create a bit of a crowded atmosphere.
I like the way you put the sofa on the carpet as this puts some structure in the apartment but I would have perhaps opened it up towards the window to create more usable space and to separate it even more from the dining area. The "media room" seems really nice and cosy. Would have loved to see some more pics.

Hi,

checked Art de vivre out and it looks like Eric Ruffet, the owner, moved back to Paris and does not have a website anymore.

We unfortunately do not have a floorplan but it is a classic railroad apartment like in most brownstones in Brooklyn.
To michaelc: I thought it was only 800 sqft when I signed the contract but I looked at several similar places in the last months to buy with 1000 sqft stated on the officical floor plans and they looked smaller (which corresponds with what propertyshark says about the size of the building). The challenge with these type of floorplans is to make the sqft really usable which worked surprisingly well for us.

Hey guys,

thanks for all your comments. I was actually a bit nervous when Ashley wanted to present this pretty unfinished apartment but she sold it really well and her pics were great (she missed the Baywatch centerfold though - which is pretty colorfull and counters the 'too white' criticism a bit but I agree it is also a bit tasteless ;-) ). So special thanks to Ashley for doing such a good job.

Some comments and add. info:
The headboard: we defintely wanted to make our own headboard but could not find a good base so we came up with this and experimented with a couple of matresses. The cheapest IKEA twin bed does the job best (as a headboard, definitely not as a mattress). It is thin and hard enough to stand on its own and the greyish cover does not let it look like a mattress (and you can wash it).
The idea behind it is actually to get a nice custom made cover (we are currently thinking about a dark red & gold brocade fabric) for it to make it a bit more custom and get some color in the bedroom.

Sheets: from IKEA indeed.

White: Point taken for the livingroom but that is supposed to change with some pictures on the wall and a walnut coffee table that is in the making. We liked it for the bedroom though. The other rooms are actually not too white, the photos jsut focus on the white elements. And there was no option to paint the walls as this is a short term lease.
