Cute place, but I don't like seeing a bed "exposed" in a living area so I'd want to use that office as my bedroom. Jennifer's Exposed Brick Studio Small Cool Contest |

I love this place. Kind of slapped-together looking but its really inviting. That tub by the bed - how convenient. Looks like a fun place to live. Matthew's Nothing Else Like It Small Cool Contest |

I'd be tempted to close off that entry into the bathroom from the front hall. Then remove the doors to the laundry and you'd have a nice walk-in closet/expanded laundry room. The downside is guests have to trek through your bedroom to visit the loo but for that additional storage space you would gain it would be worth it. Albert & Katy's Cheerful Home Small Cool Contest |

I'll say it again - I think Adam is pulling our leg here. I don't believe he and his wife live this way. I think he entered this contest as a joke. Adam's Streamlined Simplicity Small Cool Contest |

I admit the decor of this apt. really doesn't do much for me, but the layout and architectural details are really interesting. What is that underneath the bedroom window? Is it some sort of storage area? I would love to see more pictures of the balcony/kitchen/bathroom. Diana's Sunshine & Sea Breezes Small Cool Contest |

Never mind the apt. (but its really nice), this is the cutest couple I've ever seen on this site. That first picture of the two of them is just too sweet for words. Best wishes to them both. Stephen & Robert’s Stylish Bed Stuy Pad House Tour |

Sadly I have many, many, years of experience in hand-weeding dandelions (and other weeds) and I've found that any old steak knife or other pointy-end knife works just fine. No real need to go out and buy a tool just for this purpose. How To Dig Up Dandelions (Along with the Root, Every Time) Apartment Therapy Tutorials |

If people want to implement a "be nice or be quiet" policy on this site (which personally I think is oftentimes already in place), then AT might as well get rid of the comments completely. I would never use vinegar on wood furniture. This was a concoction my grandmother used in the olden days, and a few years ago decided to clean my parents' beautiful mid-century modern coffee and end tables with it. Stripped off all the finish and they will sadly never be the same. 5 Natural DIY Recipes for Cleaning, Polishing & Restoring Wood |

At 50 years old, and having the same friends since I was about 14, never in a million years did I expect that friendship to fall apart when we were about 45. I'm surprised to read that its difficult to keep them alive. I purchased one at Home Depot about 6 months ago, in a 5" high terrarium, on sale for $3. Its is my south-facing kitchen window. I spritz it with water when I remember, I guess about once a month, and its doing very nicely. Maybe I'm just lucky. One Minute Tip: Get an Air Plant! Apartment Therapy Videos |

Very nice and colourful but those curtains in that state are just awful. To see them all askew like that would drive me insane. Any kind of roll-up blind would be so much better. (Sorry to rant but this is just my pet peeve. The only thing worse is when people gather them together and tie them in the middle - that looks even worse from the outside) Stephanie's Bay Window Bedroom My Bedroom Retreat Contest |

We have successfully re-grouted over existing grout. Our house is 60 years old. We simply clean the tiles well (use TSP or other de-greaser) first. If you have crumbling grout you will have to dig that out, though. You can get the proper digger-outter-tool at Home Depot for about $5. We then re-grouted our entire bathroom (incl. inside the bathtub). Its still up there and we've had no problems at all. A nice thin coat is all you need. Wipe it down afterwards with a big sponge and warm water. You'll need to do this about 4-5 x and let it dry between washings. For us, it was easy-peasy and makes your bathroom look a million times better. Maxwell & Ursula's Light Rental Reno: Inspiration - #3 Renovation Diary |
