How do I stay on a budget? I use a spreadsheet and map everything out at the beginning of the month. Then I update it every few days in accordance with my checking account. I don't use credit cards and hardly ever use my debit/bank card. Instead, I withdraw cash every couple of weeks and keep it organized in an accordion folder. The cash is spent on groceries, clothing, hospitality, eating out, entertainment, etc. My husband and I have been paying with cash-only for 5 months and we'll never go back. It doesn't work for everyone, but for me, paying with cash helps me to see where everything goes and it's easier to budget when I see I only have a few dollars left in this or that category. We spend 300 a month on groceries and 75 a month on things like toilet paper, tooth paste, soap, etc. (There's a separate budge for drinks/eats out) It seems like a lot but we usually end up using the full allotted amount. Hi everyone! Thank you for all the advice. We are leaning towards either no light, or something very low profile/flush to the ceiling. But one consideration is this spotlighting from Ikea. The Barometer Spotlight to be exact. Could anyone weigh in on this choice? I agree about the condensation. Unless it has a lip, as quiltmaster said, the POOL of water that gets left behind will eventually spill off the tile. For drinks that are not filled with ice, or for hot drinks, the tile coaster idea works. But icy drinks, forget about it. Maybe my glasses sweat more than most, but I doubt it. Lately, I've been interested in making my own fabric coasters. I absolutely hate the noise that a coaster makes when it sticks to the bottom of a glass when you pick it up, only to come crashing down onto the table with a loud clank. (The ones I have that do this are wooden.) It always startles my guests and they think they've done something wrong. I love that photo with the white shell chairs and the big black dining table!! That is a gorgeous juxtaposition of two very different styles. I waawnt that.... I love this movie! The score, to me, is incredible. It makes the movie for me. (Expected to hate this version because of KK.) Oh wow. I actually LOVE the Domino photo. To me, it looks like a room I'd want to spend hours in. It seems inviting. I like the low low coffee table a lot.
