yeah, I have noticed that a lot of creative people don't express it in their space. Some do, some don't. Can Your Guess Who Calls This Their Home Office? |

I don't know if there are any classes where you live, but they are offered at a fabric store local to me. If it were mine, I would sign up for a class and learn to do it myself. You sound willing to learn, so it might be fun. DIY Reupholstering Help for Beloved Chair? Good Questions |

I used Warm Windows to make a window shade and it worked beautifully. I liked how well it insulated the window and that I could sew whatever fabric I wanted for the shade. Also it looked really nice from the outside. It did completely block all light, though. During the daytime you want some natural light. Window Insulation from an Unusual Source |

wow - is that an emerald green on one chair and lavender on another? And then you put it against the coral wall - oh wow, you are good. And I especially appreciate how many traditional pieces of furniture you used in a really fresh way. Great work! Natasha and Brad's "Coral Me Happy" Room |

What a great space. I would not have cared for the kitchen cabinets, but you completely worked them in. I love the way the colors come from the same general area on the color wheel. I don't even like yellow, but I could live here. Laura's "Sunny Days" Living Room |

Gorgeous composition of colors, proportions and shapes. I love your gray walls & crisp white wookwork that fade away behind the furnishings. I agree with SkylarkMelody about the coffee table, but such a minor quibble. Beautiful room and thanks for sharing Shilpa's "Poppy Gone Blue" Room |

one of my most favorite homes ever. I normally hate that color of wood and I would have painted it white immediately. But the color palette weaves the gold-ish color beautifully with the ceiling in the entry and the leather sofa. The black wall.... omg I am in love! Erin's Vintage-Filled Austin Home House Call |

I ate dinner there last night. In the first picture, you can see the stair behind the logs. As I walked down the stairs, I had a terrible (wicked) urge to push the logs and create havoc. Apartment Therapy DC | Inspiration: Woodberry Kitchen's Farmhouse Decor Baltimore |

What a great idea to create a series on woodworking. I love to DIY and this could help me tackle projects that use wood. Could you explain a bit more about this statement "seasonal movement is inevitable, and always occurs across the grain of a board". I did something similar. I used a solid pine table top from IKEA (VIKA FURUSKOG- approx 24" x 48"). There is a layer of cotton quilt batting and topped with a tightly woven wool stapled nice & tight. It will discolor over time (just like a regular ironing board cover) but it's no big deal to replace it. So far I haven't had any problem with warping and I use it a lot in my sewing. I put it on top of my counter height cutting table when I need to press large pieces of fabric. Apartment Therapy Los Angeles | Inspiration: Incorporating An Ironing Board Into Your Home's Decor |

Thanks for all the lovely ideas. Seeing the very first picture gave me a great idea for a DIY project. I have a twin bedframe ("This End Up" craigslist score) - and I have a book that explains basic upholstery techinques. I think I will try to staple some batting & fabric on the wood frame in such a way as to imitate that first bed. Oh thank you for the inspring photos!!
