oh my gosh - i live on beans! seriously. my favorite is chick peas, and i love making simple dishes with just some salt and red pepper flakes. i also love bean salad - i use black beans, garbanzos, kidneys, and cannellini, but you can use whatever you like. throw some salt, lemon juice, olive oil, and red pepper flakes, and some grilled veggies, and you've got an awesome meal!

I used to live in the capital of Umbria - Perugia! The local wines, ESPECIALLY the reds, are quite lovely - Umbria sits at a higher elevation than Tuscany so many people don't think the vines would do as well, but they really do, even if sometimes they tend to me a touch sweeter (but not in a cheap wine kind of way). I recommend Umbrian cuisine as well - Torte al testo and fennel seed are common staples!

I disagree- I think at least one wall of Tiffany blue would be GORGEOUS (after the walls are washed and painted a brighter white if you keep them that color)! On the other walls you could do varying shades of the Tiffany blue, big prints on the newly white walls that complement the blue, and yes, fantastic lighting is the key!!!

Good luck!

my boyfriend and i live in a duplex in Southern Illinois, about 7 minutes from the SIU campus. We have a huge yard, a patio, veggie garden, 2 bedrooms, and a garden tub. we pay $575 and think it's a pretty good deal!

My boyfriend and I call it dinner...

Here's my challenge. I'm a generally healthy eater, having once been vegetarian, vegan, even raw foods! Now that I live with my boyfriend, we plan meals together and he isn't as obsessed with healthy eating as I am... I've definitely changed his habits a little bit, but how can I plan budget-friendly, HEALTHY dinners on a busy schedule that he will enjoy? I would LOVE to be able to make things ahead, too! He's a professor, I'm a grad student, and we're both busy musicians and performers as well! Help!

Thanks!

Denise... I think you can do a ton with this space! Just keep it simple and soft and think of the paneling as a background. Perhaps long hanging and draped panels of white, flowing fabric with many different hanging lights? Paper lanterns (the big round ones) are all the rage at weddings these days and really give a beautiful romantic glow. Perhaps focus on some dim, romantic lighting and depending on the tone of your wedding (contemporary, traditional, simple, etc) add some touches here and there. I think it can turn out beautifully!
