I love this thread. I'm about to move from DC to Chicago at the end of the summer, and this post came at the perfect time. I know about two souls in the Chicago area, but it will pretty much be a fresh start for me. I've relocated to various cities my whole life being a former Army brat, but it requires work each time to readjust and find a group close enough to call "friends".

I co-sign all the advice in this thread :) And any place you can frequent on a regular will increase your chances of seeing the same person over again and potentially spark a friendship: gym/yoga class, church, weekly sewing/cooking class, dog parks. Just like high school or college.

Would love it if there were AT Meet-up groups or Happy Hours for all the cities! I'm excited for what the move will bring and for anyone in Chicago I'd love to connect!

@Meme Larue I think it's made very clear in the writer's copy that Julie's mom, Patricia Underwood, is an artist and many of the pieces in her home are originals. But thanks for putting down quality sites like Art.com and Etsy and the people who use them EVERYDAY.

Thanks for your comments everyone. For those who inquired about sources for certain items (light in dining room, chair on patio, decor), the post has been updated with those answers :)

And for the inquiry about Sara's dress, its from Urban Outfitters and the boots are from Dita. Thanks!
