We did this 6 years ago & still love it! We bought a new one but decided to make it look "used" with paint splatters.

After we measured for the correct viewing height we screwed it all together so it couldn't move up and down anymore. We attached a regular wall TV bracket so we knew it would sit correctly and flat for viewing.

It's very sturdy and is not falling anywhere. Sometimes we have a DVD of our photos (or some art) playing so it becomes a frame.

The way I do it is use Image Capture. It's an app that comes with all macs. It reads your phone just like a chip from a camera. You can choose any (or all) photos to transfer to your computer. It's also an easy way to erase them a bunch at a time from the computer. Try it. It's great!

my husband & I have used this app for a long time. it's so great! We go to screenings a lot and come separately from work. He can sit in the theater and watch me as I drive so he knows if I will make it on time or how far away I actually am.

We also use it when he goes on motorcycle camping trips. Every once in a while he'll send me a glympse (you can send on for 0 minutes so it just gives a flash of where you were when sent) and then I feel better knowing he's ok & he doesn't need to get out of the "zone".

I highly recommend it.
(my sister & i use it as well when meeting up)

can't believe how nasty people are. ugh.

Anyway, I have NO PROBLEM getting rid of gifts from others if I don't need/want them. I appreciate the gesture and now that the item is mine I do with it as I want, thank you very much.

Having lived in a loft with no space I can totally understand the idea of getting rid of something that is never used and totally condone it.

I once sold something very valuable from my Dad that others can't believe I would let go. But, it was sitting in a closet gathering dust and not being loved at all. The buyer honors it & keeps it out to view and LOVES it. Such a better place for it, and I could then pay my rent! =) win win.

@ray44 how many pieces is your collection? I'd buy it from you =)

We would NEVER have a TV in the bedroom but here is the one on an easel in our living room (that I've posted here 3 years ago).
We just moved & it looks even better in the new place. Love it!

they are not actually banning tungsten light bulbs, they are putting restrictions on how much energy bulbs can use, that current tungsten lights do not meet. There are people working on making a new tungsten that does comply (I hope they actually do it!).

CFLs may be "green" in energy use but the chemicals used to make them are just as bad and you can't just throw them away because of the mercury in them.

sarahrae, they aren't that bad to go down, but without the hand rail (our choice to not install) we tend to go down backwards. we've had them for 3 years & they've been great & never too small or steep. the alternating treads are a real space saver. we also like that when we move we can take them with us as they are so easy to assemble. =)

The third image "Karina" are the ones we got for our bed platform. So easy to put together & perfect for our space. We've never put the railing on but... someday?

Yea! We made the book! Soooooooo excited =) I live in the loft with the skinny stairs. They aren't that skinny & as NAV said, they are alternating treads to take up less space. We do, however, come downstairs backwards. They came with a railing but we never got around to putting it up. It works out really well. Thanks AT!

(I wish it looked this tidy right now) =p

This oven is amazing! Not a toaster oven but it works great as steam oven, convection oven AND microwave.
It can be on the counter or built in. We couldn't live without it!! (i know a bit pricey but sooooo worth it -we almost never use the "big" oven any more)

We've had our TV on an easel for quite a few years now. we bought the easel specifically for this purpose (and made it look used). It's meant for very large & heavy canvases. After we measured for the correct viewing height we screwed it all together so it couldn't move up and down anymore. We attached a regular wall TV bracket so we knew it would sit correctly and flat for viewing.

It's very sturdy and is not falling anywhere. We didn't have a place to "hide" the TV so this is the next best thing. Sometimes we have a DVD of our photos (or some art) playing so it becomes a frame.
We love it.

when we moved we made shelves for our cookbooks so they could be displayed out. We always forgot what we had and never used them before. Now we just glance at our wall and get inspired to cook fun things all the time!

Before we were married my husband & I lived on the UWS of NYC in a 9'x12' apartment (not including small bathroom). We were there for 18 months. Most of our "stuff" was in storage in California but we found many great ways of finding spaces for everything. The ceilings were 14' tall though so we could put the bed over the "kitchen" area. He even worked at home! Great memories and I'm glad we did it but don't think I could do it forever =/

It would make a great "vacation" home if anyone had the money these days for something like that =)

I have always loved the idea of black walls (or a wall) in the bedroom, but haven't convinced the hubby either. Right now we live in a loft so it's not an issue.

I painted "my" wall of our downstairs office very dark gray (really just about black) and LOVE it! Also, I'm an editor so darker is better where I work =)

definitely eye lever whilst seated. I can't STAND the TVs mounted above a fire place or just up high on a wall. Not only looks bad but makes for poor TV watching enjoyment! =)

We used to go there all the time when I was little. We loved it! I'm so glad it's still there. I might have to put it on the list to visit when next in the UK.

We both already had sets of (mismatched) plates etc when we moved in together. When we got married we were going to move out of the country soon and didn't need much of anything. We decided to register for only things we wanted: a camping tent, power tools, isight cameras, etc...

Then we didn't return (& paid for) 4 big plates, 4 small plates & 4 cups of the dishes we rented for the actual wedding. We liked the white w/raised pattern & it meant more that it was actually at the wedding. We use those, along with our other mismatched dishes every day.
