I've started cutting out all of the relevant pages and keeping them in folders. There's only about 5 in every issue that I really want to reference later, so there's no point in keeping the whole mag.

Ditto with Alameda, where I used to live. It was awesome. But then are still lots of places where you can't even get curbside recycling pick-up. It's sort of hard to believe.

I recommend priming it with Krylon Fusion for Plastics. People who work with vinyl and plastic toys ALWAYS prime the material first. This will give you a good surface for varnish, glue, and other paints to bond to and will help your final product look smoother.

I would recommend sticking with paint, because it will be easier to change later if you want, and clean-up will be easier. You should probably also seal it with something like Ardcoat, which will keep the paint in place.

As a hand-quilter, it's really nice to see someone price their work realistically, to reflect the time that actually goes into it. These quilts are totes amazing!!

Nthing bigwavejen and 212gretchen. This would be like pressing your face to a window, but with your whole body. Not flattering, or sexy. (Not to mention that, yes, this looks incredibly uncomfortable.)

Seconding charcoal grey cabinets, and maybe a lighter grey or greyish-beige for the walls. Then replace your hardware and get a different curtain and you'll have a whole new kitchen.

The description given here for a spot color is pretty much exactly what a spot color is *not*. Luckily (??) the dots in the graphic don't appear to actually be C, M, and Y, respectively (black is black is black, I guess), but yeah, this pretty much doesn't make any sense.

I actually think it might be cute to a non-design professional, but only if they don't know that it might (or might not?) be a design joke. As in, "'spot color!' I get it, like colored spots and spotting color. Cute!"

At least five years ago there was an article in the Thurs. styles section of the NYTimes about a country house, I think in upstate NY. The outside was painted black, and was gorgeous. One of the interior shots showed an entryway that was grass green, white, and wood, with black accents. I've been slowly and quietly planning a bedroom with in those colors ever since.

Someone picked this up for me from my Amazon wishlist for Christmas. I hadn't seen it in person and had no idea how big it was. Seriously. It's huge. And amazing, of course, but you'd better have a place for it. It's practically a piece of furniture. It's almost overwhelming in its number of images, but it's a great reference.

I've seen a lot of glass jars used recently as a way to organize and display ribbons, buttons, and other colorful supplies. Something smaller like baby food jars might work in this case.
