SunnyBlue - I bought that same PB/MG sofa, at about the same time, in loden velvet. Along the way, mine suffered a do-or-die spill and I was forced to toss the entire slipcover in the washer. (Washing couldn't possibly have made it any worse!!) In spite of the dry clean only instructions, it washes beautifully and is even softer post-laundering.

My mother always used a Mouli and I assumed every kitchen had one until I married and began to cook 40 plus years ago. At some point, I replaced my old metal Mouli (had no idea it was considered "collectible,") with a stainless one that only has two grating cylinders, instead of three, like the original. I grate cheese, boiled eggs, pickle - pretty anything that's grate-able - and consider it indispensable.

I'd go in a heartbeat...and with my dog.

I don't want to spoil anyone's fun, but is this safe for the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks that are sure to eat it? I'd suggest substituting animal-friendly ingredients for the glitter and stars.

As a child, I fell in love with the ebony floors in John Wayne's character's house in "Donavan's Reef." In all these years since, I've never had a chance to have them. Maybe I didn't miss too much.

Ditto, ncottrell. But I wonder how difficult it is to keep every speck of lint from showing on those black floors?!? Maybe the reflection off of the gloss finish helps?

Like talby's, my cast iron skillets have been in the family for well over a hundred years. A Dobie and warm water is the most washing they get. Sometimes it's less - just a few good swipes with a dry paper towel. I heat them on the stove top on low, just until they get warm, to ensure they're thoroughly dry (overheating an empty skillet can damage the seasoning. )

Sleek and stylish? Yes. Warm and inviting? No. Not nearly cushy enough for my hedonist crew.

I think it's the room decor, not the color combo that make this setting lifeless.

Love all of the colors and fabrics; feminine, age-appropriate, but not overly "baby."

Beautiful, but not over-decorated. Looks like real kids live here. Agree with mamman22 and "love the elegant simplicity."

Love it, love it...except for the dead animal pelts and carcasses. While the forms and textures of these may be appealing aesthetically, remember that these animals didn't die from old age. They were killed to adorn a human's home.

Right there with you sally305. I work with people who were saddled with made-up names and/or impossible spellings who have had to give themselves more traditional nicknames to avoid the bias you mention and to avoid the need to constantly spell out their names in business, personal, and social situations. As you said, right or wrong, people can - and do - often make negative assumptions about the environment in which they were reared when clearly the parents gave more thought to drawing attention to themselves, not their offspring, by being thought original or trendy, rather than considering the lifelong burden they were placing on their child.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Kathryn. Super annoying to try to match...and sometimes it seems like there is no match.
