Refusing to arrange the couch for optimal viewing or sticking the TV in some obscure way to hide it, is the decorating equivalent of a combover. Televisions as a Focal Point Inspiration |

Maple- This setup is IMAX considering that most AT viewers think that putting their dinky little 32" LCD TV above their mantle qualifies as their "entertainment" center. Pontus' Particularly Posh Perspective Tech Tour |

Ok I can understand this kind of setup in the setting of a tiny studio apartment; but after reviewing their tour, I think they should just abandon the pretense of keeping the peculiarly small living room as a conversational area. The real conversational area is in their huge kitchen/dining room space that also opens out to their patio. 5 Reasons Why This Small Space Is Super Smashing |

Glancing at your watch is still more convenient than rummaging for your phone, turning it on, then putting it away after you look at the clock. As long as people need to be on time, wristwatches are here to stay. Why Carrying a Watch Is Still A Solid Idea... |

Sitting up straight is healthier of course but it's hard to do for extended periods without some degree of hunching. Unless you're sitting in a recliner, take a break and stretch the legs a bit between long periods of sitting. Tips for Prolonged Seating Postures? |

If you want to have the bed on the other side, I would push the head of the bed against the wall with the window. The TV can be placed directly opposite on the wall next to the built-in bookcase. The couch can then be floated near the foot of the bed as a natural divider. I'm not sure I would even put up a tall divider with this layout since it will block light as well as your view of the TV from bed (don't underestimate this perk in a small studio apt). Do yourself a favor and forget the futon. You can still squeeze a full-sized bed into the bottom right corner and hang a drape or use some kind of room divider to "extend" the foyer. This should create a cozy alcove while leaving a decent amount of space for a living area. Help With the Design of My First Apartment? Good Questions |

Why go through all that trouble when there is a perfectly good media cabinet for the TV to stand on? In fact, the viewing angle would be more ideal had it been simply placed atop that nice looking credenza in the pictures. Softmount: Hang a Flatscreen, Keep your Walls Intact Store Profile |

Honestly, you don't really need a black wall to call attention away from a TV. There was a house tour a while back with an orange wall with a large flat screen TV that looked great. I think the best results come from people who learn to accept the TV as part of the decor and complement it rather than trying to "hide" it, which never looks good and appears half-hearted at best. I own the Microsoft Arc Mouse and I'm sad to report that it is the most uncomfortable mouse I've ever used. Unless you have a really small TV, it needs to go on the opposite wall. I don't see why it has to be near the kitchen island though. Put it directly opposite of the bedroom doorway. The L-shaped desk should tuck in nicely in the corner behind the walk-in closet. Optimum Arrangement for TV Watching in New Home? Good Questions |
