Not sure what part of NYC you live in. In brooklyn on atlantic ave there is a store called "the better carpet warehouse" and we had amazing luck in their remmenant section. It is the scraps of large jobs and they are priced to sell. If you have a larger budget I believe ABC carpets has the same thing but with more designer carpets. I have the same arc lamp in my living room. We got two of IKEA's TEXTUR table lamps in white and put them on both sides behind our TV. The trio lights up our entire living room and the shades on the IKEA lamps match the CB2 one perfectly. We get a lot of nice approval from guests about them. if you end up putting your art onto another type of board before hanging it i'd recommend gator board over foam core. foam core is also subject to buckling but gatorboard is more dense and wont buckle. i had a friend that used rastorbator and mounted 8.5x11 black and white printouts on gatorboard then hung them all a .5" apart to make a cool mural grid. i think you should stencil in a gradient from the suggested paint line from AT to the ceiling curve. Do something of a halftone pattern that breaks from teh solid wall to the white ceiling. I used to really enjoy going to IKEA. I believe all of my recent frustrations and IKEA rage have to do with the specific store and its staff.
