Mine went off without a hitch! It was my first time hosting. We brined the turkey and tried the "butcher" carving method recommended in the NY Times (Or LA Times, I can't remember). It was perfect, we'll be doing that moving forward.

Sides were simple, green beans grilled with green onions and almonds, mashed potatoes, roasted potatoes, gravy, and my first attempt at dressing, which turned out faaaabulous.

Now I want to host every year!

Bx - I would recommend the herb-roasted pork loin with haricorts verts, spring onions and mustard breadcrumbs from Suzanne Goin's cookbook. It is so delicious and easy to prepare, so you can spend your evening catching up with your friends :-)

Apartment Therapy - Open Thread #116

I submitted this dilemma as a “Good Question” this morning, but I figured I might post on the open thread as well.

My boyfriend and I received a really great espresso machine and grinder as a gift. They are both quite large. The Expobar Office Control is 15.25”H x 9.5”W x 16.5”D and the Mazzer Mini Grinder is 16.5”H x 7”W x 11”D.

We have a decent-sized kitchen, but no counter space for these two large machines. I would like to find a bar or console table that we can rig as a simple espresso bar, of sorts, in our kitchen. We have a fairly large open wall where a tall bar table currently lives.

We would like it to have enough counter space to comfortably fit the machines and allow a bit of room for preparing drinks, and perhaps some lower storage (shelving at the very least). We’re hoping to find something in the $200-$300 range, but are flexible.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers - K
