Another one you might want to check out is the Numark Omni Controller. I have one for parties at home and it works great. It comes with Mixmeister as well as Traktor which are both great pieces of software.

I have a pair of these at connected to my computer at work and have to completely agree with the review here. They are the best sounding computer speakers I've ever had and are extremely well built.

I know a lot of people who add sand and buckshot to hollow speaker stands to get rid of any resonance through them. Would these enhance the sound quality the same way?

I've got the Harmony 1000 and have to say that it has changed my life. I originally picked it up to run my TV, theater system, and cable tuner but after finding out all of the other wonderful little things this remote can control it now runs my lighting, blinds, Mac mini and coffee maker. It's a fantastic remote and I've had no problems with it. I was lucky enough to get it at that $250 sale price too.

I agree with Orchid. There are a number of companies that are making speakers that are beautiful. Rich woods or metal finishes are becoming the norm and the standard black box speaker is slowly disappearing.

Companies I tend to look at are KEF, NHT or Monitor Audio.
