@glitchgirl, this is a studio. She is using the dining room *as* a bedroom, but it's technically not a bedroom. You an easily see that from the diagram and the layout of the space. I think it's a brilliant lifestyle choice. Forgo an underused dining table for a bed and be able to keep your living room "livable" instead of having to futz with a sofa sleeper, a daybed/sofa or heaven forbid ... a futon! Ick. Cute space and neat as a pin! Amanda's Secondhand Treasures Small Cool Contest |

I agree with the comments about Annie Sloan paint. Perfect for this style and requires no primer. They have paint and glaze to give them an "antique" look. Personally, I think they will look much better painted. They look dated to me in their original finish. If your style is more contemporary, I would choose a very high gloss paint in a bright color like fushia or bright yellow. Even white or glossy black. But I would absolutely not spray paint. I would brush paint. It takes more time but looks much better in my opinion. Spray paint is so dry and chips and scratches especially on wood. I would use spray paint only for wicker or outdoor patio furniture. Ideas For Novice DIY-er with Outdated Tables? Good Questions |

I agree with ScuttledCuttle and kb from la. Comments should not be deleted. We are all capable of dismissing comments that are just plain rude. But I agree, deleting random comments stifles discussion and takes the focus from the home tour to the mysteriously missing comments. That said, I will be VERY honest. LOVE seeing that Polygamy Porter six pack holder! Way to represent! Utah has some great micro breweries (believe it or not) and being as bass ackwards as it is it also has a plethora of humorous takes on its weirdass culture. Plus that porter is damn good beer... why have just one indeed! Oh... and your apartment is well done too! ;) Love your artwork! Pamela's Blank Canvas Goes Bold House Tour |

@tetegrondona Really? Even a "serious" antique? I spent $2000 on a jumbotron armoire (that will now be the bane of my existence forEVER because I can only move places where it will fit), but I love it long time. It is the most expensive piece of furniture I own, but I also never tire of it, it's well made and provides much needed storage. Plus it won't depreciate in value like a new sofa that would have cost just as much or more. Why is it wrong? I don't buy new stuff so I'm being environmentally responsible. Don't get me wrong, if I could afford it I'd buy a new spendy comfy sofa .. but I digress. Why is it wrong to spend big money on furniture? I don't get it. I like furniture. So cute! The back splash is genius, love the blue painted dresser and the outdoor space is charming. Even with all the DIY projects the space doesn't look cluttered. Well done! Oh, and I love the white tufted chair and round button pillows on the sofa. Which brings me to the symmetry on the sofa: it keeps it looking very tidy and pulled together! And I love the fabric on the closet door ...Okay, I'm done now... Michelle's Sweet and Eclectic Studio House Tour |

Love the courtyard, love the bones of the apt., love the titty tat, love the hair, love that "tooth" necklace or whatev it is that she's sportin'.... but I'm sorry I have to concur with the post by Janet Brandt, the colors are just too garish. The beautiful crown molding gets lost in that strong loudest-color-in-the-crayon-box paint. And then a purple sofa on top of a rug that fights it and a grape bedroom and black bathroom? I'm sorry, but it doesn't feel cohesive at all. And it feels cluttered not styled. It's a great apartment, I would just dial back the wall colors and let the space breath. I like the striped rug, but I think it competes with the striped cloth at the (what I'm assuming is) the kitchen bar, and the green striped pillow and the chevron striped pillows on the sofa. I loves me some stripes, but I'd like to see another pattern thrown in as well. Also, love the yellow sliding table who who thingamajig on the sofa, but would like to see an end table at the other end of the sofa. I think it would ground the space better. I must say, best dog bed ever and cute pup! Joan's Personal Pieces Small Cool Contest |

Thanks for 'splainin', Lauren. I had sorta/kinda figured out where the bed was the closer I looked at the pics. Let me just say, I'm envious of your particular neatness! When I lived in a studio my sofa bed was more bed than sofa ... meaning I would leave it opened for days and loll around on it like a mental patient... but I've shared too much. I didn't mean to imply that your place wasn't darling. It 'tis. I think you have great style and I really like the bookshelves and the way you've incorporated the television in them so that the wall doesn't scream FLAT SCREEN! Thanks for the clarification and good luck! I'm going to channel your neatness now and go clean out a closet! Maybe later....;) Lauren's Only Rule Small Cool Contest |

I'm kinda with GREENWOODGAL, I'm still confused on the location of the murphy bed. I don't think it can be behind the bookshelves because how would it fold down? She surely doesn't take everything off the shelves each night. I think it must be to the right of the bookshelves on that wall we don't have a clear picture of. Si o no? Obviously I'm too late to be the first to say that I love the string curtain! But I do! But that's not all...also love the chandelier over the small island dining table. Is that hardwired into the ceiling? It's the perfect scale for the space and makes it feel like a real dining area. The whole place is designed very well...one of my favs! It's been said before but I'll say it again...winner, winner chicken dinner! Marina's Not Too Shabby View Small Cool Contest |

Moody and shadowy like a film noir. I like it. What I read as a seascape over the sofa adds to the shadowy fluid feeling. I love the contrast of dark and light. And just as with a b&w Turner classic movie the light, shadow, shape and contrast is the "color." And seriously, would you really ask Barbara Stanwyck or Marlene Deitrich to toss down a bowl of m&m peaners to liven up the joint? Kristi's Head Over Heels Small Cool Contest |

Thank you for showing a picture of every major room/area in your groovy pad! I like it, especially that pretty robin's egg blue tile in the bathroom with the flirty curtain. Perfect curtain for that space! Sorry you have to live with wtw carpet. Death to carpet! But you've done a great job disguising it with the rug in the living room. Nicely done! I really like your place and I'm uber jealous that you live in Germany! I think the tree branch for hanging clothes is a very ingenious idea! But I have to concur with LYONSTILL, I'm not getting the whole feel for the place with your pics. First pic may just be a bad angle, but it looks like the sofa and chair are colliding. Reminds me of the Lucy & Desi movie the Long, Long Trailer. And while I admire your restraint and am envious of your ability to live sparingly (an attribute I, unfortunately, do not possess), I still have to say I love NOT camping.
