Thanks for all the comments!! The book shelves are $3 spice racks that we got from IKEA and spray painted. I knew when I put them up that they'd be out of reach of a toddler, but we don't anticipate our child staying in the room that long--as we are going to use this for all of our children. The basics of the nursery are gender neutral--the pink "color coding" that is in the room is completely interchangeable for boys. Ie. the hoops on the wall I just have to put new fabric in, the C on the wall I anticipate changing out for different names etc. and the flowers on the wall come off. Everything that is girly can disappear if we have a boy--hence we still feel the room to be gender neutral.

The cubes we got at Target for $12!! They just happened to have the right colors this year for back to school!!
