I love Tommy :) He is the best part of Sarah's shows and it's so fun to see his apartment. Very interesting, very well done! Tommy Smythe's Master Vignettes House Tour |

Honestly, I'm more bugged by how it looks from the outside than by blocking a view from the inside. Seeing the back of a painting in the window would look so tacky. Hang Art On Your Windows |

We have a ribbon driveway and it is one of my favorite things about my yard. Our garage is connected at the rear of our house, so the driveway would be SUCH a mass of concrete without the grass to break it up. We live in Utah and get TONS of snow in the winter and have never had trouble with shoveling. I'm a pretty lousy driver, too, and back up over the grass at least once a week but it always seems to recover :) Old-Fashioned Ribbon Driveways | Apartment Therapy Boston |

I have two favorites in my house that look good with EVERYTHING, look perfect in any light and work in every season--Kwal Howell's French Ditch (a perfect light green) and Benjamin Moore's Early Morning Mist (cream with alot of gray in it). I'm about to have my 3rd baby on Friday and I could care less if anyone brings me food or gifts or comes and cleans my house or anything like that. I'm not entitled to anyone's help or charity. I think everyone DOES deserve respect from visitors, though--just because a visitor has good intentions doesn't mean they are being respectful. When I had my first baby, I was horribly sick (103 fever, took me 2 weeks to recover), I'd had a horrible labor and couldn't walk and I was stressed about dealing with a new baby for the first time. My brother-in-law (with his 7 children) and my sister-in-law (with her 5 children) both stopped by my house unannounced the day I got home from the hospital AT THE SAME TIME. I know they were just trying to support us, but making me gather chairs for 16 guests (most of which were screaming children) and entertain them while feeling like crap was one of the worst experiences of my life. Guests need to be more cognizant about what the parents need--if you're really trying to support them, you'll put a bit more thought into what would really be helpful and supportive. 10 Things You Should Know Before You Visit New ParentsMori.net | Apartment Therapy Ohdeedoh |

The Laundress stain solution is the BEST. It even got out pen when my daughter drew all over my white couches. I haven't had a stain yet that it hasn't gotten out--I love their products and they smell SOOOO good! Spring Cleaning: Green Laundry Products Roundup | Apartment Therapy San Francisco |

I've been bothered ever since I read this last night by people judging this family for the size of their home. My house is a bit bigger than theirs, and I bought it when my mom passed away so my family (4 brothers and sisters, grandparents, nieces and nephews) could still get together for dinners, holidays and parties. Most of the homes in my city have a bunch of square footage lost in unfinished basements--you really need to buy a house this big or bigger in order to have enough liveable space for a big family. How can anyone judge a total stranger for why they bought/rent a certain size home? It's one of the most annoying characteristics of some posters here. My floors were stained black by professionals. After seeing them go through the process, I would never attempt it on my own. The water popping is a really crucial step for super dark floors. It opens up the wood so it absorbs the stain more deeply and evenly. Without it, the stain tends to go on blotchy and every single tiny scratch shows up. With my water popped floors, a scratch needs to be pretty deep before it cuts through to the bare wood underneath and shows up.
