Thanks so much for the tutorial! I think it's perfect because it's so simple. I've been looking at spice racks and a similar rack that holds that many jars tends to be over $100, and/or ugly as sin. I am definitely going to try this :)

yeah disregard my flickr link...I must have missed it in the post above, and I posted the old group link. Overtired posting not a good idea.

Questions: Where did that spice rack/jars come from?? I neeeed it. Also, the shelf in the kitchen where pots hang - is it just a plain wire shelf with "s" hooks?

For the look in the picture that goes with this article, where do you keep all your stuff if there's no medicine cabinet, or under sink storage?

I'm in my second round of AT. For the past year, I've done a lot of decluttering. Have a but more of that to do, and a few rooms left to cure. So far I've painted the living area and the office/guest room. I have pics uploaded on the flickr group I posted above. Though I've done more works since those pics were taken. I live in Astoria, in a "1 bedroom" that does seem more studio-like. It's pretty small. Me and my boyfriend are getting a dog, and want to really simplify everything, cut down on all the "stuff" and really make the space work for us.

Cheers, and good luck to all!

Jessi

Thanks als1 - I think I'll try those! I haven't had much luck with those things but that was back when they were a newer product. I bet they've improved.

I'm wondering if most AT-ers put their kitchen garbage bins in a cabinet, such as under the sink, or somewhere else in the kitchen? I have never kept it under the sink, but I think I'm going to try. Any insight on this decision?

I recently went to Build it Green NYC in Astoria, and they have tons of salvaged doors (kind to the environment, kind on the budget too). I was disappointed in the rest of the stuff, but if I were looking for doors, I would definitely check them out first. Particularly if you are into recycling.

Unfortunately it's not my fridge so I couldn't epoxy it or screw it in (I'd be a little nervous about screwing into the fridge anyways). My strip is only magnetic on the front as far as I know...hmmm

Thanks minnesara! I love it - I'm gonna order it right from the site! I love that it's stoneware and can be put in the oven too.

Laminate counter tops are already treated with plenty of chemicals, well actually they ARE chemicals. so...paint away!

I want to put Ikea laminate flooring down in my kitchen. Wondering if anyone has experience with doing this themselves? Is it difficult? I have a circular saw, will that work for cutting it?

Thank you for sharing this. People always say it "isn't possible" to do this, but anything is possible!

Interested in an update after a few months to see how it holds up!

I love this idea. There's nothing like an old fashioned chalkboard (I'm a teacher and most schools have moved to white boards). Just keep in mind if you have a child with asthma, chalk dust is an irritant.

I'm not shocked at the price, I do afterall live in NYC. But I do wonder why the writer deems it "affordable." It's always interesting to see what you get for a million in this city.
