My mom had a box full of 3x5 cards. Inside they were organized by daily, weekly, monthly and yearly chores. Each Saturday she'd lay all the one that needed to be done on the counter and tell us kids how many we needed to choose. On the card was written the chore and also directions on how to properly complete it including illustrations on the easy ones for my little brother.
We hated that box, I can remember wanting to smash it at times, but I learned to appreciate a clean house from her. Thankfully my partner and I have similar standards about keeping the house clean and we both pitch in pretty equally.

extrahalo- you make a good point. We actually have insulating window socks on all of the windows (except when they are getting their pictures taken) and I only just finished sewing the new bedroom curtains, but they will have liners shortly. With the exception of the kitchen, the apartment is very dark (we have windows yes, but tall buildings on either side) which makes for a hard decision about privacy vs. light vs. warmth.
rachpie- the gorgeous wooden sleigh bed was purchased off an ex-girlfriend so sadly I can't help you with a source.

kris0218- the texture is part of the wall, and part of what we love about this place!
lins55- that is a very large piece of Marimekko fabric that I stretched over a wood frame from flax. I ordered the fabric from reprodepot.com

jessicamc, funny you should ask about the roommates. Originally Cristina and her 50 lb dog were in the workroom (we built a loft bed above the doors), 1 mate in the dining room and 1 in our current bedroom. The next generation was Cristina and I in the dining room and mate in our current bedroom. Dog passed away and mate moved when we got engaged. With the help of rent control we were able to finally take over the entire lease.
