it's actually the same gray - the lighting is different in the rooms so the main room appears darker. I can't remember the name but it's BEHR and I got it from Home Depot. btw, definitely check the gray as a sample in your home. This gray has blue hues in it and sometimes by gray appears lilac (which wasn't really the look I was going for :)

SanDiegoAT, yes, it was worth it for me to spend a my part of budget on movers. It equaled out to about $100 more then a uhaul and having to do it myself. Very much worth it! Your initial statement seemed broad to me and assumed I was "throwing money around". Which you can assume - I was just explaining the situation.

ellerRVA, yes, pizza, friends and wine were all a great help to getting settled in. :)

home body, I describe on my blog about my affordable move. Would you spend $ on a uhaul? I spent probably $100 more on actual movers. my handyman was through a friend so spending $25/hour was a great deal to get something I loved (like lights) and somethings I needed (like curtains) hung up. And the best part, my landlord PAINTED THE ENTIRE APT FOR ME!! I was told to "pick 3 colors". My best advice for you - don't judge a book by it's cover. Most of us are thoughtful about spending money, I know I am.

bepsf, I love that Abby left a list of how-to's for her home not because I can't read signs or turn a shower on BUT bc I know that she is a caring and thoughtful person. The "perfect host" even when she's not there. She wanted me to feel comfy in her space while I stayed at her place when I was in LA working on a project. I wonder how you are with your own guests - do you let people stay at your home?

dtremit - yep, that's true and that's why I wrote in the post that these aren't really deal breakers since you moved in. The point is that many people don't like them. i.e. secondary -Rebecca

Opinionated Architect - what's old hat to you is brand new to me (and many other readers!) Personally, I hadn't heard this tip and wish I had when I hung my own large wall gallery. Next time, I definitely will use the paper and trace system.

As for the photo, it's from the a previous post about gallery layouts and the photo is from a West Elm catalog that is obviously styled. This is not from an actual home. (credit link is listed at the end of the post.)
