I recently bought a "Malm" rug from SmartBargains and the stench, which smelled like a combination of mothballs and chemicals, was so overpowering, I was almost knocked over. I returned it and they issued me a full refund and did not charge me shipping. I then saw the same rug on Overstock and purchased it from them, hoping that it would perhaps be better. It was not - same unbelievably toxic smell. I vacuumed it 11 times (front AND back and aired it out on our deck - in the sun - for 3 days). Smell remained.

The rug is hand-tufted, bright green, and has that white vinyl backing that others have spoken of. I just contacted SmartBargains and they are also refunding me my money.

It is SO unsettling to hear that companies are likely very familiar with this issue yet are continuing to sell these items. God knows the repercussions on our health.

By the way, this is the rug: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Hand-tufted-Malm-Green-Wool-Rug-83-x-116/5116047/product.html

STAY CLEAR OF IT!!!!!

LOVE THIS! You are SO talented. Can you tell me what wood you used for countertops/island???? I would be SO appreciative if you could give me this info. as soon as you can as I am right in the middle of a kitchen remodel and want to use wood.

Thanks!
Judy

Hi there,
Just wanted to echo Lacey M's comment. I purchased a magnetic chalkboard paint (magnet and chalkboard paint combined) and put on FIVE very thick coats - essentially using entire can (can recommended to use three at most) and found the same thing - that only the very small rare earth magnets worked. Don't remember the brand we used but it was touted/rated the best. Was really disappointed and annoyed.

What I love about this entry is how the color comes from the furnishing/accessories and not from the walls - which is the route most people take to add color to their homes.

So beautifully done. Warm, inviting, uplifting, serene...just absolutely lovely.

My definitely favorite.

Painted over chalkboard paint (at least the kind from Home Depot) was no problem. I used a few coats of primer first, and then gave it two coats of the color.

Aptilfe- sorry for the delay. But I found out from my sister-in-law that the crib came from The Burlington Coat Factory 7 years ago. Apparently it is a "Bassett" crib but she is not sure of the exact model name.

Best-

This is utterly spectacular. I truly do not know how anyone voted "not my thang" for this submission. It is so well done and is simple yet not sparse with a cheery feeling to it. Color preferences aside (as some people have remarked on), this is THE gem of all gems.

Amazing job!!!!!!
