I LOVE this!!!

When I was a kid, I would do this in the snow outside. Or if there was no snow, beg my mom for all the decks of cards in the house and do it in the living room.

I'm 33 and firmly believe my love of graphic design and architecture started here.

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for all the lovely compliments. It was definitely a project that took on a life of its own, but totally worth it. My daughter loves it.

Thanks Katie and Ohdeedoh for posting this!

And avimom, my brother got it on Amazon. It's the Educo Rise and Shine coffee maker. It's a great little piece all on its own!

Thank you so much! It was a ton of fun to make...and totally worth it.

That last photo is her tough motorcycle ridin' face. Sooo intimidating.

Thanks so much for the lovely compliments!

Yup. I hand painted each tree. I made a stencil, traced it on the wall, then used small paint brushes. It took about 80 hours! But I'm so happy with the result!

I posted a how to here:

Hi seattlejessica! Thanks! Yeah. I got a little ambitious and made them all. It was a lot of work, but totally worth it.

Thanks so much for the lovely compliments...it was really fun to plan.

mae25...I bought some small bottles of bubbles, but mostly the kids just ran around playing and eating way too much sugar. The kids ranged in age from 4 months to 5 years old, so there really wasn't an activity that would have kept them all interested. Have fun planning your daughter's party!

About 9 months ago, we ordered 2 of the Numi Gates (the aluminum version) from AmazonUK...had it shipped to an aunt in London...had a nightmare of a time getting it shipped to the states...and I LOVE them. Totally worth the hassle and price (although buying from AmazonUK and having them shipped to the states is still cheaper than what they are listed for here).

They are incredibly well constructed and strong and they look great. They are perfect for our family because they allow the (large and aging) cat to go under and still keep our toddler away from the stairs. And yes, they look great in our home.

These are all lovely options, and I'm sort of dying over the Isak Baby Journal...however...I wish there were options as beautiful as these for children who are adopted (My husband and I are waiting to travel to adopt our beautiful baby girl who is currently 16 months old).

I've seen a couple of baby books for adopted children...but they all assume that the child was adopted at birth.

sigh. I will be creating something of my own for my little girl.

Hi Wilma! I actually live in that community too (thought it looked familiar!), although in a different model, so we didn't have to contend with the wrap around windows (so, so beautiful!).

We went with curtain panels from IKEA. It was a cheap solution for now, and really went with the overall feel of the modern Eichler-esqueness of the community. I don't really like the solution of plantation shutters because it just doesn't look right with the exterior.

you can sort of see what we did. I attached the rails to the wall though, instead of the ceiling. Honestly, we couldn't be happier.

Feel free to email me (tyau30 at gmail.com) and let me know if you want to stop by.
