Just made to give as gifts in mason jars. Delish. Ina comes through for me again!! I reduced the rosemary by not adding the rest at the end as it was already very flavorful in my view. Yum!!!

That's how I do it! I love how it spreads much more easily than cold butter...but I find you do have to turn down the heat or it can burn. Also, I tend to have Veganaise on hand, and it works great, too!

Mmm. This post is making me hungry. Breakfast is my absolute favorite thing. Not just favorite meal, favorite *thing* :)

I would say my ideal breakfast would be shared with my hubby (tho he's not a breakfast fan!) or a couple of close girlfriends, outside somewhere beautiful, and would consist of:

-something sweet (old fashioned french toast or or some sort of flaky pastry)
-something savory (a really really good omelet cooked with plenty of butter)
-endless supply of french press coffee

Whenever I have left over water from boiling tea or pasta or something, I pour it over the sponge in the sink; which I feel is a good way to keep the sponge (and the sink) a little cleaner. This doesn't substitute of course for normal cleaning, but can be a good quickie cleaning to add to a routine.

I highly recommend "The Birth Partner" by Penny Simkin. . . it's a book that is good for "dads, doulas, and other labor companions" and is often required reading for doula training/certifications.

Persimmon cake!! It's to die for. It usually comes out reminding me of carrot cake or zucchini bread - a mild flavor of persimmon, but really moist and delicious. It's also fantastic with a cream cheese frosting or some sort of mascarpone+honey concoction on top.

This one looks similar to the one I've used in the past http://www.nevadaweb.com/owc/html/persimmon.html

We have a play area at a nearby shopping mall - the play structures include a small ferris wheel, some bounce houses, and one slide which bothers us greatly: it's an inflatable slide made to look like the sinking Titanic ship.

These days, who DOESN'T have some sort of dietary restriction or preference? I feel that if I'm hosting, it's important to ask my guests for a variety of reasons - allergies, dietary choices, or even extreme dislike of some certain food (ex: what if I make a main dish containing mushrooms, only to find out that a guest simply cannot stomach mushrooms?).

As a vegan-leaning vegetarian myself, I have found a useful phrase to be something like "I just wanted to let you know that I am a vegetarian and I do/do not eat dairy products. I know that you're going to be very busy preparing the party & dinner that night, so I would be more than glad to bring a vegetarian/vegan dish to share". This way, the host/ess doesn't feel that I'm skeptical of their ability to prepare a vegetarian dish, because sometimes they'll want to offer!

Hooray for Malbec!! This is my all-time favorite variety of red - in fact, it wasn't until I tried a Malbec (in Bariloche, nonetheless) that I realized I enjoyed red wines at all! I credit Malbec for my newfound love of reds. YUM.

Hmmm...yes, some of these are a little over-the-top and silly, but am I the only one who LOVES a couple of these?!

Specifically, I like the Gingko Tub and the Orleans Wrought Iron Tub... and the copper tub is beautiful, though hardly practical...

This is too funny- I was JUST thinking that I ought to find out how to make Malai Kofta- it's our favorite dish when we go out to eat!

Jessica, I think the versions of Malai Kofta that we are most familiar with do contain a bit of tomato - I don't think it's the most prominent flavor (or color) usually, but all the recipes I've found so far do include tomato. Maybe the restaurant you went to had a special version w/o tomato?

This is the recipe I'm thinking of trying, as it seems similar to what I'm familiar with http://indianfood.about.com/od/vegetarianrecipes/r/malaikofta.htm , or maybe this one ('cause the pic looks yummy!) http://myrecipeflavors.blogspot.com/2009/04/malai-kofta.html

Wine novice here...

Wow- never knew you could freeze it! This may be a silly question, but does this freezing technique work for both reds and whites?

And how long does wine tend to stay "drinkable-good" once re-corked?

Ugh! We suffer from this, too, however we don't have any children yet. We worry about what will happen when we do, since we ourselves are awakened by our cats on a nightly basis.

Since I cannot sleep with cats jumping on and off the bed at night, pouncing on my feet every time I move, we have chosen to close our bedroom door at night, and this has become the cats' sole purpose in life- to get through our closed door.

Like some others have mentioned, we've eliminated the morning feeding, but this still doesn't seem to do the trick. I wish I had some advice to offer, but really all I can do is sympathize with all of you.
