Thanks for the heads up- I bought these to put in my sons' Easter baskets, but am seriously reconsidering after reading this post. Since I no longer have the receipt to return them, I'll probably save the colored bubbles for summer time play- in the backyard, in shorts and old t-shirts with a hose at the ready. We don't do DVDs in the car. I'm terrified to open that can of worms. Right now, my kids don't know that watching TV in the car is an option and I'd like to keep it that way. I drove half-way across the country with my 3 1/2 year old twin boys last summer and they were fine with their books, mini-magnadoodles, and lots of music. Do You DVD? | Apartment Therapy Ohdeedoh |

We left Manhattan for Des Moines a little over a year ago and can't believe we didn't make a move sooner. Love, love, love small city life- especially our old house and fenced in backyard (veggie garden coming soon). Our twin boys are 4 1/2 and love having a dedicated playroom for all their toys (no video games, though lucybrown) and I love having an uncluttered living room and room for overnight guests. It's easy to visit friends- no one is more than 10 minutes away by car and many are within walking distance, making playdates and get-togethers a breeze. Plus, DSM has everything we need in terms of culture and activities: a great art center, wonderful restaurants, parks, bike trails, farmer's markets, botannical garden, music venues, etc. The City or the Suburbs? The New York Times | Apartment Therapy Ohdeedoh |

I don't use formal online wishlists or registries, but I do keep my own list throughout the year, jotting down things that the kids ask for specifically or that I think would make good presents for them come birthday or Christmas time. Then when friends or relatives inquire about what the kids might like I have some ideas to give them. I can't imagine offering up the list unless specfically asked, though. We got our pug Otis a few weeks before I learned I was pregnant with twins. Otis is now 4 1/2, the twins are 3 1/2. The kids love the dog, treat him kindly (most of the time) and like to hold his leash when we go for walks and help fill his food and water bowl. I don't have a suggestion as to type of bed. But wanted to point out that if you buy only the bottom half now and they discontinue the style/design you choose, you might be stuck. Apartment Therapy ohdeedoh | Good Questions: Modern Modular Bunk Bed? |

After almost 10 years of being a vegetarian, I caved for a cheeseburger. Still quite possibly my favorite food ever (when done right). Apartment Therapy The Kitchn | Ex-Vegetarians: What Was Your First Post-Veg Meal? |

I've made quite a few books for my twins using photographs: An Alphabet book (this was my first attempt and was made from photographs, craft paper, and contact paper and held together with rings), Our Family, We Love Our Daddy (photos and text about them and their dad), and Summer Vacation. Breakfast in bed on your birthday is tradition in my family. The breakfast itself is usually some sort of pastry with a candle stuck in it, coffee and/or juice, but is sometimes something slightly more ambitious like an omelet or french toast. It's a great way to wake up- to the rest of the family singing happy birthday, the candle light, the food, and the presents!
