Although this seems an easy DIY, it's not that simple. It's difficult to get a good bond between glass and paint without sandblasting first. If you use any typical adhesion to mount the glass to the wall, the adhesive will bond with the paint instead of the glass, and it could come tumbling down at any minute when the bond weakens. If you want to do this, try mounting with clips or a channel for the best security. (Also, it's common to see the adhesive through the paint and glass, not very pretty!)

if it was my place, i would put the bed in the closet against the wall with the head of the bed next to the cabinets. I'd add either an open bookshelf or wardrobe as a sort of privacy wall between the bed and the rest of the living room. the ikea shelves that use floor-to-ceiling support posts would be perfect. then you end up with sort of zones - lower left is sleeping, lower right is bath, between that is a dressing area and your storage. this concept really depends on how much stuff you have though! go for some under bed storage so you don't entirely loose the closet!

Do a big white mat around it with a simple frame, and find some other pink or brightly colored art to frame in a similar way and go on the wall with it. And don't put it in the bathroom! If this is the one thing he must have, what does it say about your relationship if you can only bear to have it in the bathroom? Just put it in your living room and love it for the humor of it.

I had a similar situation and got a piece of wood, cut it to the same size as the footprint of the piece (plus a little bit) and then put casters on the bottom of that. basically put the entire piece on a skateboard type of thing. locking casters of course though!

Another vote for just knowing how wide your outstretched hand is. Mine (I think it's average-sized) is 8" from thumb to pinky when the fingers are wide spread, and 4" across the knuckles, including the thumb knuckle, when the fingers are closed. That's been more than enough for me to measure anything!

I do something similar with juice - I tend to juice at home but if I'm ever out and decide on a naked juice, I never seem to be able to finish the whole thing. I throw the leftovers in the freezer and eat it like italian ice later, cutting off the top of the bottle for access with a spoon. I think this is a great idea, including the reusing the jars bit.

Moving about 800 miles, we couldn't get our move dates lined up neatly and had to store everything while we took a 3-month sublet to finish the summer in location #1. We paid the moving company to bring our truck worth of stuff to a "climate controlled warehouse" near the final destination. Turned out that the "warehouse" was actually that they left it in the truck for 3 months over the summer, and the truck was full of leaks. EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING, got completely drenched, then completely baked, then again, again, and again...everything was moldy through and through. Lost all the furniture, clothes, papers, photos...everything except some plastic items. We then lived in a new place with no furniture or belongings for a month while we were waiting for reimbursement checks, which turned into 6 months in a hotel (on them) before we got a dime.
Lesson learned - doing it yourself is tough but worth it.

playing of taureg's idea, what about taking the design of the handle, and sandblasting the negative of that pattern onto glass? Pop the glass in and hold it in place with quarter round or something similar. It would make the missing drawer spot decorative instead of functional, but it would look awesome...

When I reupholstered my couch, I brought home fabric samples and used them to pet the two cats and the dog. The one that attracted the least hair was the winner! And another tip for keeping your couch hair-free - wear a rubber kitchen glove and wipe the couch down with the gloved hand. works like a charm.

I've done stuffed pumpkin or acorn squash - filled with stuffing, quinoa, wild rice, or other grains. Acorn squash is great because you can bring it to the table whole and easily split it into quarters to serve. My standby though is the most delicious and hearty risotto i can manage, served in a roasted pumpkin/squash. Beautiful!
