What the first commenter said. A layout would be really useful in understanding the space. Ideally, the part of the LR you choose would be adjacent to the kitchen. Or....You could place the dining table in that window nook and add a sideboard for storing servingware.

But, damn, that is one small kitchen.

Almost anything would look good with these! You could do crisp white bedding with some sort of black trim, or a bold color like pink (magenta or fuschia or some other BRIGHT, STRONG pink).

Oh, just paint the brown walls! If the landlord is that design-challenged, s/he probably won't even notice.

I don't think you can go wrong with white subway tile. You could use an almond-color grout to tie it in with the floor.

Throw some cool bath mats done on such a small space, and you won't even notice the floor tiles.

There's a huge difference between having doors on a bathtub and doors on a shower.

Doors on a tub are a nuisance. The tub already places an obstacle (i.e., the side) between you and your shower. Why would you want a second obstacle in the form of glass doors? (Corollary: I hate most bathtubs.)

Doors on a shower stall --the right doors, that is, with minimal, easy-to-clean tracks -- can be gorgeous. I had clear semi-frameless doors installed in my new shower and it opens up the space mush more than curtains ever would. Much cleaner, too.
