I recently had to buy one off of Craigslist for my 14 month old son....he saw one at another kid's house and I literally had to pry his fingers off of the steering wheel!

i'll trade you 900 sq ft of my space for just your kitchen :)

I think that the last picture was the before? Definitely tough to tell the difference though...maybe a picture along with the dresser you described.

The fabrics I used are Heather Bailey Freshcut, Amy Butler Lotus and Joel Dewberry Sunburst. I pulled the paint color from the Freshcut fabric.
The stools are made from old drum shells with plywood lids that were upholstered with the same fabrics. We use them for storage and seating as well.
The squirrel pull toy was made especially for Sophia by Matsutake (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5311113), the mirror from PBteen on clearance a while back. The "bear" mask is actually a mouse mask that I bought in Venice when I studied in Italy back in college...Sophia loves it (but I suppose 3 year olds are attracted to the slightly macabre!)

Character such as beautiful moldings or tall coffered ceilings is far too expensive to get in a newer build...and anyway, there is also the character that goes along with the neighborhood as well as the house. Living in a city gives you the chance to connect with your surroundings and community in a way that is lost in suburbia.

I actually prefer the giraffe over all of the other pieces....I have a tall plastic giraffe clothing stand from back when i was a kid that i recently painted all white in homage to the Adler piece...it sits in my daughter's room waiting for a friend!

We're having my son baptized next month and I am having a very difficult time finding something simple for him to wear- preferably nothing satin, tuxedo-ish, or priest-ish. I was originally thinking something along the lines of a crisp linen or cotton romper...the weather here is unpredictable, so pants would be a must. Any suggestions? Thanks!

jooltman- no splinters anywhere! the fabric wraps right around the lids and the shells themselves are very smooth and finished. I actually have 2 more of the shells- a tall one and a very tiny one that I mean to incorporate soon.

My husband just bought the set of 2 last night at Target- they were on clearance for $11....they are very fun to play with!

I actually think that the color of the room in which the items are displayed is off-putting. Imagine the items against a softer color and they're not so bad.
