great space! i agree with the comment about the separation between bed and living room space, but it's overall a sweet place. love the dog and pizza cushion =D

makes me want a full home tour (bathroom! balcony! closet!) and a sense of the layout from when it was a 2 bedroom

i'm from hong kong, and i never noticed the claustrophobic/anonymous feelings in anyone i know there. the street life is SO vibrant, so dense, so ....... well, non-stop and sometimes overwhelming that retreating to an apartment - even if it's only 200sq. ft. - was a relief. as to the small kitchens and bedrooms: my experience is that when in h.k., i very often ate out (i mean, c'mon, the food is AMAZING there!) and the bedroom is used differently than in north america: it's solely for crashing. and yes - there is green space all around, so i never felt i was drowning in concrete.

also, i think i watch too many horror films. the first thing i thought when i saw the image was: wow, what would happen in a zombie attack? and when i read the contributor was moving to a seriously rural area, i thought: but how about the lonesome highway axe murderer guy when your car breaks down? maybe time to watch some rom-coms....

i love the face our daughter is making in that one photo, the adopted pets, and that doughnut book is fab! also love the grey on the walls - i'm bookmarking it.

your home is delightful, thoughtful, and seems like a great space for a family to grow up in.

i love montreal, and am SO glad you featured it!! we found that non-french speakers still got by quite well there, so if you're not french speaking, don't let that prevent you from experiencing this charming city.

yes, i second using padmapper, as per #Ros' suggestion. their tagline is 'making apartment hunting suck less'.

i also agree with postagenotes; luckily, there's an unspoken rule that if any of us moves, the rest of us help out. and yes: buying beer and greek food helps a lot.

i would also add that i clean out the fridge first: melting food = unhappy me, and the ventilation in the bathroom. they're usually overlooked, and pretty gross, generally

i get migraines, so it's floor-to-ceiling drapes with blackout lining for me. also, every item in the room is non reflective, no prints, and lots of textiles to muffle noise. walls are a misty grey. the room ends up feeling very soft and cosy, but as non-jarring as possible when the pain comes

beautiful space; truly lovely.

i have a question for studio dwellers: do you let guests sit on your bed, since seating might be fewer than the people in your space? or is it off limits? or can guests sit on the bed, but no food/drink allowed? are there guidelines around that? i've never lived in a studio, and i've always been curious about it.
