The people getting offended by this post are just trying to find something to gripe about. We're visual creatures and there isn't anything wrong with that. My underwear drawer is a mix of cute and frilly, and practical and plain. I think it's fun to dress up for my fiance, and he likes seeing the cute and frilly stuff. You shouldn't try to shame other people for wanting to look sexy. That's like shaming men for holding the door open for women. Just because it is an old idea doesn't mean that it isn't nice. I'm only a beginning container gardener, but one important thing I've learned is that if you live in Southern Arizona, shade is your friend. My basil, lettuce, chamomile, and mint are all currently surviving (despite the occasional 100 degree weather) under the shade of my patio. They get light for a couple of hours in the afternoon. Full-sun plants are pretty much a lie here. Shade is the only thing that keeps the poor babies from going up in flames! The only plant that I have in full sun right now is my tomato plant. I agree with trying to cook it in the oven instead of on the stove. Bigger dish means less time spent shuffling things in and out of pans and bowls. I love my food processor for this kind of thing too. Ideas for Quicker Lunchtime Meal Prep? Good Questions |

I look forward to these posts every week. I completely understand the struggles of a black-thumb. Here in Southern Arizona, it's really difficult to garden if you want something other than cactus or rosemary. My mom and I decided to start gardens simultaneously and help each other. We've both had years of failure, so our combined knowledge of what doesn't work is extensive. So far, so good! In my personal container garden: tomatoes, mint, basil, lettuce, chamomile, a curry plant, and one un-killable houseplant that is older than I am (just to make me feel better). This is funny because my fiance and I were just talking about food-love recently. He told me that he had a much easier time doing dishes when he was living alone and eating cold soup straight out of the can (gag!). When we met his favorite food in the world was Taco Bell, so I feel lucky to have gotten him into cooking and food at all. While we still have some differences in taste (for him, a meal without meat is not a meal, and veggies might as well not exist unless they're in salsa), I have been teaching him to cook and he loves planning meals, cooking and eating with me. I save my delicious veggie meals for breakfast and lunch, and he eats cold cans of soup and Oreos when I'm out of town. What Do You Do When the One You Love Doesn't Love Food? |

I love my food processor, so I can definitely support that purchase. I will throw in a voice for good food storage containers though. After moving into a more humid area I couldn't believe how quickly ingredients deteriorated! I moved a bunch of things into tupperware containers and my food started to taste like plastic. So I'm currently in the process of switching to glass jars. Not a huge expense individually, but it's something that I would outfit my kitchen with completely if I had the money. I read a Little House on the Prairie book when I was little that talked about making molasses candy on snow. I was always jealous because I live in Southern Arizona where we don't have snow. Maybe I'll have to try it once I move. Would You Eat Fresh Snow? |

Pssh, I'm glad that a few other people said candy because that is my horrible delicious downfall. I go on an all out candy splurge where I just finish the whole package in one night and then the next day I want nothing more than a huge salad and an apple. I had replaced my sour punch straw craving with glitter grapes but now grapes are so expensive! What's Your Secret Grocery Store Indulgence? |

Some of these rituals sound so nice! As a college student, I tend to keep a late night schedule and thus a late morning rush as well. I tend to *try to* wake up between 7:30 and 8 to get to class at 10. This usually involves getting homework printed and together, figuring out what books I need for the day, packing my bag, making a lunch, having breakfast, and attempting to pull myself into a decent state of dress. My glass baking dish shattered just a few weeks ago. It was sitting on the stove and BLAM! I was lucky that I didn't get hurt since I was standing right in front of the oven. I'm still finding glass shards all over my kitchen and living room. Modern Glass Bakeware: More Likely to Shatter? |

I love a clean house, but my schedule keeps me hopping too much to keep it sparkling. My fiance and I do a thorough cleaning once a week, but if guests come by and it is already messy then, oh well. I do try to pick up and sweep when people are stopping by though. So many of my friends have cat allergies that it seems like a nice and easy thing to do that will make them more comfortable. I love having guests, but it can be taxing. I had a friend stay over recently that would not eat anything in my house. She's a very picky eater and always offered to go find herself dinner somewhere else (she's a pretty big taco bell fanatic), but I felt bad about her having to do that. Unfortunately, that meant eating out for every meal including Starbucks for breakfast. It got really expensive, and I won't be able to have her here for a while now! 5 Tips for Being a Good Overnight Guest |

Living in Phoenix makes it hard to walk anywhere. Not only does the temperature stay near 115 during the summer, but the city is planned to be very widespread. We also don't have much public transportation in the suburb areas. After I moved to Tucson for college though, I started to ride my bike and take the bus more. I should start walking to the grocery store too since I moved a couple of blocks away from it. Schlepping: The Ultimate Urban Workout |

I've never been much of an alcohol lover, much to the amazement of my partying family! My mom loves her fruity cocktails and wines. She used to drink Long Beach Iced Tea or Orange Pina Coladas and she loves Sangria (but it has to have brandy in it!). Recently, she has switched to Mojitos because my dad perfected his recipe for them. 2 shots coconut rum, one shot sweetened lime juice, shake with ice and bruised mint leaves, and then cover with Sprite. Dad likes gin and tonics, beer, or rum and coke. My sister is a rum and coke fanatic! We mostly drink when we're hanging out by the pool or having a board game night. What Did Your Parents Drink?
