I am not a fan of so much white but this is beautifully done all the same - cohesive, practical and inviting.

I wouldn't live there, but I agree it's well designed and you've done wonders with the space. You've got my vote!

I wish we could see the kitchen and/or bathroom... but what we do see is divine. <3

Very elegant. I especially like the bedroom.

It's a beautiful colour, but probably a bad idea with the low slanted roof. I also think you should move your stuff in first, see if you like it, and if it feels too dark, go with white.

I feel like the worst sort of geek for pointing this out, but that final picture from the film is not from a hobbit house at all. The overall look in any case should be more classic English cottage, with a lot of dark warm wood. This post missed the mark IMHO.

I've only moved into this apartment three months ago, so there's not much that needs fixing, but it still looks a little unfinished in places. My list includes:

Dealing with the mess of cords in the entertainment centre so it looks a bit more put together
Selecting family pictures and more art to frame for the living room and hall
Doing a little gardening to make the balcony a prettier, more welcoming spot: bring in plants, create a comfy sitting area - it's summer where I live and it seems a pity not to make good use of the space when the weather is so nice
Cleaning all the light fixtures, which I keep putting off
Reorganizing the closets

... they do know that some men are into interior design too, right? And I don't see many headlines about men having self-esteem issues because they compete with their buddies over who has the newest tech or the best car either...

Nothing here is super original, but we've all seen professional designers do a lot worse. I like it - it's pretty, calming, welcoming and the mix of textures is attractive.

I have most my photos of my family and friends on my wooden desk, as a collage: I have glass over the top and I've put all the pictures under it - it looks nice, it makes my working area less impersonal, and it adds warmth to my house without cluttering up my walls. It seemed like a reasonable compromise - I want to remember the people in my life when I am at home, but I don't want to turn my tiny apartment into my grandmother's house!

The one personal photograph that is considerably larger and displayed on the walls is a silly one of me and my father done up like an old Victorian photograph. It was taken in some tourist trap in London when I was a kid and I had it set in an elaborate vintage frame much later, when he passed away. I've placed it amongst some similarly framed 19th century art prints so it doesn't stick out too badly at first glance, and it always makes guests laugh when they spot it. We look like extras from Titanic, but I suppose the cheesiness is part of the charm.

Very pretty, calm and welcoming - you can tell a lot of thought and care went into planning how to make the apartment work despite the lack of space. And the cat is super cute!

I do wonder - and this is not necessarily aimed at the lovely couple in this post, but to most readers - why make the couch a priority over a table? I mean, I get it's probably a cultural thing, it just surprises me because it's more common in my country to sacrifise living in favour of dining space when apartments are small so it throws me to see the opposite in most tours of small spaces here.

I look a little messy when I am home, mostly because my cats shed EVERYWHERE, and I like cuddling with them without worrying about hair getting all over my good clothes! That said, I usually wear comfy stuff that looks a little too worn or old-fashioned, but is still clean and more or less presentable!

This is so much fun! I love the bright colours, even if I have my doubts about that yellow on the walls (it looks fabulous in small doses paired with the light blue, though) The house looks so warm and welcoming it makes me wish I could hang out there. Great job!

I feel like the odd one out here: 28 years old and I've only lived in two places: my parents' home and my current one bedroom apartment. My university was relatively close home and the whole dorm experience isn't a big deal in my country, especially for those of us who live in the capital or around the area, so it didn't make sense to move out as a student when I could commute every day.
