I had the honor of being photographed in my friend Lauren's kitchen for this very book two weeks ago and if our experience of the day (and especially hanging out with Faith and Leela) is any indication, this is going to be a a very tasty and very joyful book! I can't wait to see the fruits of all your labor. We're Writing The Kitchn Cookbook! |

I finally buckled and bought Ottolenghi's amazing Plenty cookbook and have bookmarked basically everything in it! We're hosting 8 for dinner tomorrow, so I'm just going for it and picking a bunch of recipes for a 'middle eastern smorgasbord'. Never cooked any of them before, so fingers crossed that it's not a fine mess. What's Cooking This Weekend? Weekend of June 2-3, 2012 |

Her stuff is just the most delicious. One of her figgy buckwheat scones with a ristretto roasters latte in the new Schoolhouse Electric building is just about my idea of heaven on earth. A Visit to BakeShop: Kim Boyce's Whole Grain Bakery in Portland, Oregon Maker Tour |

A Portland shout out to Salt and Straw's Cinnamon Snickerdoodle and Ruby Jewel's honey lavender. Both are amazing (as are most flavors at both shops). But really, the best ice cream is anything that comes directly from my ice cream maker. It's Ice Cream Week at The Kitchn! What's Your Favorite Flavor of Ice Cream? |

This morning was such a pleasant cooking time! I have a needy 8 month old, so time in the kitchen is precious, but I managed to make the barbacoa beef (yum!) and the boston cream strata from this site, some homemade stock (which then became tortilla chicken soup), some roasted cauliflower, and a big green salad. So satisfying to have a stocked fridge. What's Cooking This Weekend? Weekend of February 4-5, 2012 |

Nevermind! I used a 5 qt pot and had to cut my meat in two. The lower piece had tenderized and the top piece had not. I've shredded one piece and the other is back in the pot! Recipe to Feed a Crowd: Slow Cooker Barbacoa Beef |

Two pizzas tonight: one with pesto and roasted tomatoes from last summer's garden and a bit of fresh mozzarella, the other with red sauce, swiss chard, bacon, and caramelized onions. YUM. Tomorrow spanikopita, mujadara, and a damp almond lemon cake. Sunday, brunch with friends. Probably a fritatta. What's Cooking This Weekend? Weekend of January 26-27, 2012 |

I just made a salad (from Bittman, I think), that had black beans, roasted yam, red pepper, red onion, cilantro, and a lime-based dressing that was great warm and even better cold for lunch yesterday. I know the yam is a little winter-y, but it's good for this shoulder season... Burritos to Bean Dip: 10 Bean Dishes for Warmer Weather |

Dinner tonight was roasted asparagus, spring risotto cakes, a few hard boiled eggs. There's currently a bourbon chocolate sherbet whirling in the ice cream maker! Tomorrow is out to dinner and Sunday I've got book club, so I've got to figure out something easy to bring along. Any thoughts? What's Cooking This Weekend? Weekend of April 30 - May 1, 2011 |

They're great! I second that they're not for that super high quality chocolate dessert (for that I like Sharffen Berger the best), but they're pretty darn tasty and so easy. Great Baking Staple: Trader Joe's Chocolate Callets |
