Hi all, Beth here. So far, so good (meaning no physical attacks... yet). Just some hissing back and forth between the cats behind the gate. Not sure if the anxiety medicine has kicked in yet or if it takes a few days. And yes, the cats can jump over the gate--but have not tried it when the other cat was in the opposite space.

@thistlefinch while Apartment Therapy is largely about home design and small space solutions, we also try and incorporate posts that deal with lots of other helpful home topics (pets included).

hey guys--thanks for all the super helpful ideas (it's really neat to hear how other folks navigate a move). and yes, that is the new home that my beau and i have found and i'm sooooo excited to document its transformation!

For clarification purposes--I don't usually turn down a drink. That particular day, I was already running on empty and the House Tour pics would have been compromised by inevitable tipsiness on my part...

Hi all--the new fridge is blocking 2 shallow doors which used to hold an ironing board (we don't use it). I've lived in my apartment for 4 years and once a year, I would have to haul it outside to defrost. It was a sore subject between my landlord and I (all of the other tenants had standard fridges) while my house mate and I were always stuck to our teeny freezer (which was the biggest downfall of having a small fridge). I couldn't even fit a frozen pizza box in there (and when there was 4 inches of ice--forget about storing anything but a bag of frozen peas). Lesson learned--never use sharp objects to defrost. And yes, a post on defrosting a freezer safely is definitely in order.

This happened to me yesterday while taking a shower. The bathroom door closed on its own because of all the wind in LA recently. I had left my front door open (heavy duty screen door locked) and the pressure from the wind slammed the door shut. I have to tell you--it freaked me out!

@ Lisa of Montreal--I would terribly miss my old neighborhood and the neighborhood that I'd be moving into has nothing to walk to... no coffee shops, friend's houses, etc. (not to mention no street parking--ever)
